We have a big problem in this country with Dentists. We just don't have enough of them. Also it is very expensive. Just for a check up it will cost in the region of £20, a check that last all of 30 seconds. Root canal treatment you are looking at £hundreds. Implants, £thousand's.

People from the UK are willing to travel to Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Turkey for dental treatment.

I was wondering what the dental treatment in Turkey is like and example of costs. Might be a good excuse to make a trip lol

Libralady, does England not have dental insurance? I know for my dental I pay $25.00 copay annually for cleaning and they cover 80% for basic and 50% for major. But here is the other thing about dentists. It's like taking your car into a mechanic for a problem. Usually, you get a phone call from the mechanic saying he has found other problems wrong with your car. Thats how I feel about dentists. You go in for one problem and you come out with a whole new set of teeth. But you are right, they are expensive here too. Especially, if you have a root canal or anything major your talking hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

The other major expense is orthodontia, then your talking thousands of dollars. I just paid off my sons braces, $4,000 later. I told him if he ever got into a fight, just make sure he doesn't get hit in the mouth.

I have had all my dental work for the past 5 or 6 years done in Beşiktaş. Prices seem to be about 20% of what I would normally pay in the US. And the quality of the work is excellent.

I have a couple of friends who have had extensive work done in Turkey for a fraction of what the cost would have been in the USA.

One had an implant, the other had veneers. Both were very happy with the work and the work seems to have been quite professional and reasonable.

Next time I go, it would be nice to locate a good dentist and get some work done myself. I think the issue it finding a reliable dentist.

Sure we can have insurance for any thing, but the main problem is shortage of dentists! We just don't have enough to go round. If you need to change your dentist because you move, no hope!

We have private dentists who charge extortionate fees and we also have national health dentists who charge, but it is like a conveyor belt system, one in one out!

I had heard the Turkish dentists are some of the best in the world.

I pass one of their offices on Barboros on my way to work each day. First time I saw it I thought it was very clever marketing.

The website is pretty impressive and I like the little molar (with a smiling face) rather than a straightforward curser!
