Strides means legs!! Never heard it meaning trousers!
In fact a little more detail, because you sit "astride" something  or you "stride out" meaning brisk walk 
In Ireland we referred to our Jeans as "strides" but then that doesn´t account for much as we have weird sayings for everything he he

Yeah - but its all good craic isn´t it?  . Actually I think it was from the Irish I first heard the word - there were a lot of them where I lived!
