That is certianly not the case in England.....
Most people I know who have not visited Turkia only know Marmaris and Istanbul!

Then I was wrong I don't know, but it has always seemed to me that Alanya, Antalya, İzmir, Bodrum are known and Marmaris is in the backstage.

i have many friends working in the tourist industry in Turkey and they are all saying the same thing. It is very quiet there at the moment. I think it is a combination of bird flu and football, but I also think prices have risen enormously in the past 2 years.

Many people from the uk go to Turkey because it is/was so cheap and if it gets too expensive, they will just head for somewhere nearer, like Spain, Portugal etc.

My daughter has found a holiday in Marmaris for just £119 per week including flights, transfers and hotel! This is a clear sign that bookings are low.

Marmaris, Gumbet and Bodrum are the only places well known here in Liverpool. Everyone goes to Marmaris mainly or Gumbet. When I was in Marmaris last year it was full of scousers!
