| Quoting vineyards: Eurosvision deserves a credit here. After all they have been exceptionally consistent in providing such awful quality but still managing to appeal to the masses.

Each year I keep saying I will only watch the 'summary' at the end, of all the songs shortly.. but somehow boreddom always finds me at the night of the Eurovision

Huh? It was broadcasted on TRT İNT in Turkey and now, before showing the votes, there is a programme abotu EFES? Did it switch to another channel or are the votes in half an hour or something?

I am not so sure it's only about sentimental feelings of ex-countries... it's more the same taste for certain type of music. Like Greece and Cyprus, or Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey. And we should count diaspora as well.

No because eg. Greece and Cyprus almost ALWAYS give eachother 12 points and they would never dream of giving Turkey high points. I think genres have been spread pretty much, there's little or no pattern when it comes to that.
But I always like when the countries have some cultural referances like Deli_kizin mentioned earlier. Cyprus sang in french this year, what's the point of that? And there was also another country which partly sang (or counted, rather) in german...come on ya! I think it's a shame everyone's gone so mainstream, there's almost no distinction. Any song could have been from any country, pretty much. There's so few countries who sing in their own language, why?
