Quoting boradiz: Please dont take this as an insult. I am really raising this for information.
Several times people are adressing some verses in Quran to show how badly women are treated in muslim countries. To be honest, This is not fair. I dont want to be easily labelled as an animal because of a writing 1400 years ago (although many believe it is holy writing ) and simply am born in a 90% muslim society.
My main question is how women are treated in Christianity. I am not asking the question "in western cultures today"
I am really asking the behavior in the religion itself. (e.g. I have not ever heard of a women priest)
As I told this is not a this is not a "you are also treating badly" question. I am really asking for plain information from people who has knowledge on the topic.
For those who dont want to be involved in this long discussion , they can send me a private message.
PS : I am not sure we have jewish members, but they are welcome to inform me on their religion on this aspect. |
I am not sure if I understood your post correctly, but when it comes to individuals, I'd never label anybody anything simply because of where they are born. Individuals always ought to be considered on an individual basis... In a general sense however, it is accurate to say that there's much more abuse of women in muslim countries. There is surely discrimination against women going on in all religions, however, the countries that are predominantly christian, are developed right now and are not governed by religious laws, so they are doing better in terms of equality and justice.

Our old friend of TC, Trudy, was a great lone traveller and it is a pity that she is not still here to tell you her tales. She wrote some wonderful essays about her journeys through Turkey, and I think the one thing she would say beyond everything else, is use your common sense.

But I travel with my English husband of 31 years mostly! And when I have travelled alone, only on business, usually the people I am meeting collect me etc. So I don't really qualify to have bragging rights.................

bad, bad way to defend your country, so what if they can't find girl they will rape a foreign one!!??
I'm not living in Turkey/turkish, so I'm not defending my country. I'm not talking about rape, I'm just trying to understand why turkish boys seem to be looking for sex from western women.
Of course I dont mean all areas of Turkey in regards to the sex before marriage, I just meant I think generally it is much more difficult for turkish boys to get what they want with turkish girls, than it is with western ones cos of the sex before marriage thing .

Mainly because it is, in general but with exceptions, freely offered and all requests are immediately granted....Why do you think single Western women flock to beaches of Southern Turkia? Because they like Turkish bread?
