terbiyesiz>>> ill bred, rude   i know what they mean! we have an exact equivalent for this word i know a couple of people ill keep saying this to !! useful word    but they might understand coz terbiye means the same in arabic :S but ill take my chance
There is a fun thing about the opposite: terbiyeli: well-mannered.   Have you had terbiyeli kebap?  It doesn´t mean that the kebap is polite and says "thank you for inviting me to your dinner table"!  It means done in a sauce.   Maybe the Turks think that when my mum taught me to say "please" and "thank you" she was cooking me in a sauce?   Funny, ´cos to us "sauce" means cheek, and "saucy" means cheeky i.e. rude! |
