I am the same. In fact, I like showing my affection in public without any limits (and that was the reason why I was called naturalist a few times, I think..  )..

It depends on the DEGREE of affection. Frankly the sight of couples with their tongue down eachothers throats, blocking doorways when you are in a rush, is enough to make me shout "oh get a room"
Fine for teenagers who can´t "get a room", a bit sick making when older people do it!

Totally agree with what you are saying but sometimes you can not explain this to people who simply are jealous of seeing others ´showing affection to each other in public´..
You know..I am sure, if you follow those people, you will find that they are jealous about any of the affection really..they would be throwing stones to mating pigeons , hating to see pandas showing affection etc.. I am sure of that
