Attila - I really enjoyed reading your post! It made me laugh at how ridiculous some peoples thoughts are! It reminds me of my how one time my flatmate was in Texas, and she said she came from London. The people she was talking to had never even heard of London! They thought she was making it up! Also, I remember once being in Turkey and talking to some Turks and I said I was from London. One of them said "Oh, my best friend lives in London!" - so I said, "oh really, whereabouts?" His reply??.... Birmingham!
Thanks again for your funny post Attila

hahahahaha. these posts made me laaaaaaaaaaugh! It's true realy about how silly people think sometimes. You know I am the standing joke in my family now because i am always on about turkiye and learning turkish.I try to educate my family about turkiye and they have come a long way so far. ahahaa. When I tell people here about turkiye usually i get a blank face while they are frantically trying to think of where turkiye is on the map.hahaha. Then finally after not being able to know, they ask...where is turkiye anyways?
My nephew is always teasing me about turkish dances and food...and everyone makes comments about turks being arabs. hahaha. i have to sit backin amazement and wonder, what are our public school systems teaching about history?? hahaha.
I guess knowing the truth about all this is what makes turkiye such a treasure to me. Its like a wonderful secret and on one hand i want to shout it out to the world, but on the other hand i dont want anyone to find out about it because i dont want turkiye to change from what it is.

I'm with you, Rhoda. Most people around me are the same way.
It's a bit unsettling to see how little our kids really learn about the world while they're in school.
Thanks for the laugh Attila!

ok... when i was in turkey... my bf's mother confronted me with what she thought was a very "serious issue"
we were all sitting there in the lounge.. u know.. like u do.. hehe... anyway.. she said to me...
"ceyda"
"yes" i said (waiting for something really serious and almost life threatening by the expression on her face!)
"do u wash ur hands after u use the toilet" she said
OMG I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO ANNOYED AND DISRESPECTED IN MY LIFE
"of course" i answered, trying not to actually get up and strangle her for her ignorance "whatever made u think that"
she answers, "because i have heard that foreigners dont wash their hands after using the wc and that they dont shower or clean themselves."
I PERSONALLY FINDTHIS QUITE FUNNY CONSIDERING THAT U CANT GET WITHIN 10METRES OF THE WOMAN BECAUSE OF HER STINKING PERSPIRATON... iiiyyhhh...
