I'd be really interested in hearing your stories!

Me: I met mine on MSN (he found my address on a penpals site) a few months ago. I'm 16 and he's 17. Currently we are only chatting on MSN and sending emails and letters (I don't have my mobile phone yet), but hopefully we will be meeting in person next year! Before I met him, I didn't know anything about Turkey (except for Turkish delight, of course ), but now I find myself really interested in reading about Turkish culture, and Islam too (though I'd never join).

Not silly, Ceyda. My cousin met her man in a chatroom a few years ago. Now they're happily married and living in England.
Just everyone remember the internet can still be so unreal and always be careful.
Peace

My brother met his wife on the net too. I don't think the place you meet in really matters. It is rather the personal qualities, points of view and expectations that have major impact on how your relationship may develop.

How cute.. You guys have cool stories just like me.
I met this very interesting guy through singlesaints.com, a church-reladte dating site, last September. I treat him as a bestfriend and we call each other baby. I love him being my bestfriend and I like him a lot as a man. I thought that's amazing.. our relationship grows little by little. I don't know what's ahead of us though. I hope we'll fall in love 'cos I think we found each other just when we needed someone to hang out with.

Oooh, the same kinda thing happened to me - I put on my penpals ad that I wanted to chat with French people to practice my French, and then this guy, from this country with a funny name , adds me (I admit; I thought he was a little weird at first )... Then we got chatting and realised we had heaps in common. Then he offered to become penfriends - and after reading his letter more than 10 times , I realised that I was in love... Darn, I hope I get my mobile soon!

And good luck to you too!

i met my love on msn too! He got my email address from a penpal website where i had posted it. Before meeting i had no knowledge of turkey but after that i got so interested. We were friends for about 1 month and a half then i told him i loved him and he opened opened up and said he felt the same way, but since he was extremely respectful he didn't say solol. It has been about 7 months now that i know him. We chat and call each other when we can and send letters. He said he'll probably come to USA for university next year and the first thing he'll do is find me So i am so happy. He's the Love of my life!!

im really glad that its all working out between you... i dont know how u 2 are going to seperate when he goes back..?

Jus like Ceyda i thot i was like the only one!
I also met my lover over msn, almost 2 years ago now.
After 5 months (i think?) of intense chatting and smsing, postcards and lovely shells from turkish beaches, he fell in love with me, he was the first to admit! I was too shy to tell him, till i could no longer keep it to myself So here we 'stood', two lovers over internet in August 2004. It took us till May the next year (thanks to visa SHIT) to see eachother in real!

The waiting has gotten more difficult now, because now we know what it's like to be close to eachother. But the plans for me to move overthere are becoming realer (more real?) every day.

Just liek the others i didn't know much about Turkey. I was raised in a family that had a big love for Greece, so i knew a lot abotu that country. I think therefore it became VERY easy for me to love Turkey too. I always thot i couldnt love a country more than i loved Greece, but i must admit, Turkey has passed it with its magical warmth!

I'm sometimes scared of meeting the 'real culture', I'm afraid it will not be as beautiful as i think??!? But i wanna know it.. i wanna get to know the culture inside out and then become part of it!!

Yes, but don't you see? It's not one or two, there're hundreds of them And once they get married to them, the friends of the men would want to do the same.

ehehe I'm kidding (they say there's always some truth in every joke). Anyway, there're still a lot of men left (I hope).

suuuure... there must be some over there or somewhere here but to the statistics the female population is growing bigger than the male population... so hurry you need to find a one for yourself

Don´t worry, dostum, from what I can see there are plenty of those who would not be good enough for you anyway!

And I think that stealing is an ugly expression, I prefer to see it as a culture exchange project!

Actually it is a slow way of infiltration. We are feminists that have a long term perspective on taking the power in Türkiye. Within a 100 years from now...

Don't take me so seriously. I'm very pleased that our men are preffered by the foreign women. I like cultural mixings.

In fact I'm fond of french guys

Are you sure this is the case globally Sui???
Has the false situation with boychildren in China affected the world gender balance?

I do not know but I often wondered about this
