Did anyone have the Henna treatment?? when i got back to the house mother in law brought in to the living room a dish that looked like it had a freshly scooped up cow pat , a thick brown goo with bits of fibre in it , well i just couldnt imagine just what it was i just prayed it wasnt anything to eat !
After an hour an old lady from the village gave it a stir and slapped a couple of dollops on my hand then dished out a dollop to the other women and then i realised when i saw them rubbing it into their hands it was henna.
Luckily it has faded now but it made me jump everytime i moved my hands for the first week after i saw this mark on my hands and it kept making me jump lol.

Oh yeah henna I've done it a couple of times now. One time I was sleeping with my fingers all wrapped up and when I woke in the morning I thought my bed was covered in blood
I actually like having it on, because somehow (don't ask me why) when you're in a tourist city people don't judge you when they see you have henna on your hands.

1. congratulations on ur wedding.
2. is it how u planned ur wedding?
as far as i know when u prepare for a wedding u simply sit down and talk about of everything and make everything sure like: if plan A fails, there is plan B. otherwise u deserve what u had. from ur story it looks like u didnt talk much on ur marriage(if u talk with each other at all, many girls here marry without knowing the language). or u simply relied on ur husband, who simply behaved indifferent.
-blood test? what the heck is that for? if u r hiv positive then the gov wont let u marry?
-xray? (not in ur case) but again what for?
-dodgy ceremony, dodgy way of treating the very important event of life,
-dodgy family, who took a ride in cars and put the new couple into the van, huh, what a nice family!

and u didnt protest at all? u didnt say like "hee? whats going on? wheres the proper wedding ceremony? all in all this is the only moment i marry. ha?
where were ur family? what did they feel about this?
this is all very dodgy.

I find myself agreeing with you Femme - is this a first hehe!

I cannot begin to imagine how you would marry someone and not until afterwards try to figure out how to get visas, decide where you are going to live etc. The most extreme cases are where I see girls asking for translations for their husbands. If they can't even speak the same language how on earth an a real marriage exist

You have done it again!! Mysteriously added to your original post

Can I have this translated for my husband please:

When I ask you to wash up 'this means everything'. When you say you have cleaned the walls so I can paint, 'this means you have left the cobwebs' When he says, you have been a good girl today, you deserve a treat this means ' .............. oh sorry you mean Turkish, silly me!

I hired a translator for myself ... Mostly, it is a sense of self preservation that compelled me to insist on the interpretor but I also wanted my husband to relax and enjoy his moment of being a groom and not worry about playing interpretor. I would hope anyone getting married in a foreign country would insist on being able to understand the words spoken during your ceremony life.

Excellent! Its nice to find a post from someone who thinks about these things. Clever girl .
