Mine is....I feel too strongly about things, and it makes me too quick to judge! A good example is about the slaughter of animals during Bayram. Once I had actually thought about it, I realised I had no right to criticise and that it was not such a bad thing.

I notice it more when I am on this site!! I know its a big fault and I DO try to change it, but I always seem to end up apologising after arguments!! There are some things though - ouuuuh I just can't help but argue over !

Luckily there are very forgiving classmates here!

PS Trudy you are beautiful.

Well this was a question easy to answer... I would change everything! Almost I should say.... given the chance I would change everything about myself except my wonderful, smart, loving, and incredibly handsome son. Who if not on this world would have certainly sealed my fate and I would not be around (long story). But if suddenly a genie appeared and gave me 3 wishes I would start with my appearance.

If it are false believes and brainwashing I don't know, but what is wrong with fantasies about your appearance? When I look in the mirror, hell the fantasies are rolling over each other.... (and no, I don't want to be a glamour girl or moviestar).

Aenigma, what did you start here? lol You want people's confessions? Pretty soon I'll start crying here thinking what I'd like to change about myself and why... I'm supposed to feel good about myself, don't you know that? So why reminding about what I need to change?

I guess people always need something to strive for. The modern media culture and the race it created who will look better and more like the models (ideal of everything these days) on tv makes me think of the medieval brainwashing that made people pursue weird goals based on false premises. Of course everybody will deny that they want to look like tv models, but if only they could get just a little bit closer... (oh, yes, it's an absolutely free choice, not dictated by the society - just like Muslim women love being covered head to toe and being governed by their husbands)

Well I agree with you about the brainwashing and I certainly HATE the way so many girls have turned into plastic barbie dolls with their straightened highlighted hair, perfect size plastic breasts and size 0 figures.

However, do you notice that while models may look like this, the most popular actresses seem to have more "irregular" features and figures (with the exception of the annoyingly beautiful Angelina Joli Grrrrrrr) and I think (personally) they are more beautiful because of it.

However....despite all my principles, I would dearly love to turn the clock back a few years

did these women say that? not all women who cover their heads do it because of the society there are women who do it as a free choice, why did u generalise that all muslim women are covered and ruled by their husbands??
and that they say that they "do it as a free choice" just to cover up their weekness?
well maybe that will be true sometimes not always

did these women say? wow, do they say anything at all? can they speak? since when?
the word "generalise", hah, what a helpful word to use everywhere! u also just have generalised saying: they "do it as a free choice". is it really so?
what is a free choice? looks like u have a different definition.
what is their weekness? and when they cover it they become stronger?

Yes, I'm talking about those that fit to my description. Also, I was trying to imply that miraculously people's behavior is not dictated by objective values/norms but by what the society they live in tell them to do and be important and the society always lies and manipulates people...

why not? yes they can speack, and alot of women do speack
and it seems that u don't know any woman who covers her head or u know just a small portion that seems all alike

i do know lots of women who covered their heads by their own choice, and they do all activities of life normally
on the other hand i know some who were forced to wear it

by the way i have no idea why u r so agressive about it

do u hate muslim women or something?

Yes, in some cases it's completely by choice, but how much choice do those who don't want to follow the rules have? We're trying to devise rules that won't allow such discrimination, which currently happens often.

I was saying that this is comparable to our western ways of pursuing beauty, in which women are just as objectified as they are in medieval type of beliefs.

I haven't had any time to shop lately because I took an extra job during my Christmas holidays.
But then there's always this mean illogical reasoning in my mind: "I have been saving money because I only spent money on basic things like bread and stuff, so I can allow myself to buy some extra's!" In the end those extra's add up to a respectable Visa-bill in January :-S
