I still find it hard to learn I need to learn for myself but most importantly for my Turkish girlfriend, I find phrase books a complete waste of time, I have several and they all have different ways of breaking down the words but all are different in one book by Lonley Planet one edition is completely different to the newer edition the words differ so much and it is the same book just updated. Good luck do not give up

I am a Turkish teacher. I have studied Arabic, Persian, Russian, English and a little Urdu. Not a native Turkish speaker but as a language teacher, when I compare these languages I can say that the grammar of Turkish language is the easiest one. It can be seemed as hard in the beginning, but soon you will see how logical and easy rules it has..So, don't worry.. You will succeed to learn it as many people did. And also we are here to help you..

AND YOU ARE SO LUCKY THAT YOU CHOOSE TO LEARN TURKISH. WE, TURKISH PEOPLE, WERE NOT LUCKY AS YOU ARE. THERE IS NO CULTURE LIKE TURKISH ON THE UNIVERSE THAT THE OWNERSOF THIS CULTURE ARE ALL WILLING TO TEACH WHO WANTS TO LEARN THEIR LANGUAGE.

FOR EXAMPLE I STUDIED ENGLISH ELEVEN YEARS IN SCHOOLS, BUT I WERE WITH MY OWN, THERE WERE NOBODY TO HELP WHO IS NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER AND THERE WERE NOT SUCH CHANCES TO TO GET HELP ON LEARNING LIKE THIS SITE.

I agree with you because when I was learning ENGLISH (I still am by the way!!) ANY english native speaker bothered to correct my mistakes or help !! they just said "even with your mistakes, I understand " no help at all but with turkish it has been so wonderful! all the help, corrections and support and sites like this are splendid and I think the same applies to people who want to learn spanish since we like to help them as much as we can too!

Now about difficulties of turkish , it is so HARD to learn on your own!! but once you understand HOW really HOW REGULAR the grammar is...the rest just depends on YOU!
Oh Deli is is so great you didnt give up (I had given up too once but I changed my mind)

Kolay gelsin! I will see if I can translate your tect later!

I am actually arabic myself, and i can honestly say Arabic is definately the hardest language to learn. I can speak and understand arabic fluently, however i am very very poor at reading and writing.

Yes Arabic is extremley difficult to learn! but I have someone that could help me if I wanted but no more than two languages at a time lol

As a easy language to learn, I think learning spanish is quite easy and I love speaking it
English is also an easy language and I helped a few non natives who were having trouble and though it took time and patience I was of great help which is a great reward and I would be willing to help anyone else if they wanted corrections too, as I can speak and write in English.... fluently of course

German and French I found not too hard either. Though I have given up on French and German I didn't have too much trouble understanding it when I was studying at the time

Hi everyone. I've visited this site many times and finally joined today. I'm a Persian language teacher and I have to say I think Persian grammar is the simplest of all. There's hardly any grammar to it, and what it does have is extremely regular (as is Turkish). But Turkish seems to have more tenses than Persian does.

I've been learning Turkish for about 7 months from a private tutor once a week. I also was having trouble on my own using CDs and books. I needed a native speaker to explain my questions as they came up, and to give me feedback on pronunciation and such. So far, so good! Don't give up!
