Quoting qdemir: Australian police catch peeper
An Australian man who for four years used a tiny camera hidden in the toe of his shoe to film up women’s skirts on commuter trams has been arrested by police.
The man used the device, hidden in a pair of black sneakers, to film women’s underwear, while a second camera disguised as a music player captured images of their faces to later match. The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested after one woman became suspicious of his behavior on a commuter tram in Melbourne, a city of around 4 million, and spotted the hidden lens, Australian newspapers reported on Thursday. Searching the man’s home, police later seized photographs and recording equipment showing the man had been secretly filming up female dresses for at least four years. He is to be charged for stalking and being a public nuisance, carrying a maximum 10-year jail term.

oof, looks like someone got on the wrong side of the bed this morning
No offence Catwoman but not everything on here is always to do with Turkey/Turkish....for e.g. "what is bugging you today" or "what made you smile today".
Qdemir was only posting some news from a different part of the world, thats why it was in the off topic forum.
Also if I remember correctly Bod even posted a link about the storms in the UK....what has that got to do with Turkey exactly?
I thought the whole point of different forum sections was that so people could go and search in a certain area and post what they think is appropriate to that forum....for e.g this type of news was in "off topic" because it was off topic from Turkey!

I agree with Catwoman that it becomes annoying when you see the type of news in the Turkish mainstream newspapers they present as 'news'. It looks like they have a team of people tracking world media for any news they can take and stick the picture of a naked woman next to it. Popular newspapers do this, leaving aside any ethical or moral responsibilities they hold towards people and fill the minds of people with images of objectified women. These are mainstream newspapers, the type of thing you let your kids take and read at home, they are even encouraged to read because 'it is good to read newspapers'. This type of attitude in mainstream newspapers causes a great amount of damage in the attitudes of people towards women and encourages objectifying women. Mainstream newspapers in the US don't use such offensive images (there are even porn style videos on some Turkish 'newspaper' websites like Hurriyet). This is a problem we need to be aware of and take serious steps to fix. Although this was just reporting an event, I feel disturbed when I read such things as news.

i didn't even think this kind of news would make it into the turkish newspapers. of all the things to pick about what's going on in australia, they pick this news topic.
i would like to think that there are more news worthy items that occur in australia to report on.
