Anyone know how I can get from Van to Iğdir without changing at Doğubayazit? All I know is that there is a bus from Van to Doğubayazit and from there a dolmus to Iğdir. But for personal reasons that option I do not want. Are there other possibilities?

The Van based bus companies that I know of are Van Erçis, Van Gölü and Van Seyahat, so you could ask around there. I haven't travelled north from Van before, but I think the road to Iğdir is not so big and therefore not a busy bus line, unfortunately.

Edit: On http://www.tarsusrehberim.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=263&Itemid=83 I have found a route going from Diyarbakır through Doğubeyazıt to Iğdir. Chances are it's going to Van as well so you can hop on there. The bus companies are Öz and Yeni Diyarbakır. Even though the information on the site is not exactly what you need you could contact the companies in question to see what's avalible.

Are you making travel plans?

Yes, I have plans. And I absolutely do NOT want to stop in or even pass Doğubayazit. I was already thinking of going from Van to Erzurum, from there to Kars and then maybe to Iğdir. A very long extra route, but nothing to do about it I'm afraid.

Yes, I have seen many routes going there from Erzurum and some from Kars, but it should be possible to go there directly from Van as well. Possibly by smaller busses.
How come is it that you don't want to stop in Doğubeyazıt, is it dangerous?

Ama Doğubeyazıt'a ne gitmek ne de durmak istemiyor. (Tümce'yi doğru mu?)

No. Doğubayazit is not dangerous for other people. It can be dangerous for me, and I would like to avoid that. In fact, it is a very nice small time with some gorgeous places to visit: Ishak Paşa Saray, The Ark of Noach (the assumed....), the as they say largest crater whole in the world and a very nice hot spring. Definitely worth a visit.

Yes it is. The permit you need when you want to climb it you should ask for at least two months before. And you definitely need a very good condition. I have not, so I just took some pictures. lol

He's explaining possible routes that you can take, but I can't translate it accurately.

He's suggesting a route from Iğdir to Kars, so there should be a reverse route as well. When looking at maps, it looks like there' a natural stop in Doğubayazit when you're coming from Van. I'd advise you to call a bus company so they can clear out which route you can take. It would be a really long trip if you had to go to Erzurum or Kars just to avoid Doğubayazit.
