I absolutely love Turkish music. I love the diversity of it. recently I was in Trabzon and feel totally in love with the music of that area. Volkan Konak for example is a wonderful performer. Not just the more traditional sides of the music spectrum though. Turkish pop music is incredibly rich with talent. Much more than the bland, computer generate rubbish that is marketed as "music in the Uk, and dare I say USA.

I have written a blog article on a quick introduction to Turkish music and my fav songs. When I started writing it, I realised I could have spent page after page after page on the wonderful performers and songs and musical talent that Turkey has.

My blog item is here

i love turkish music also but i think its stupid and immature to say music from other countries are less good. There are many singers in UK and USA who has 1000 times much more talent than turkish singers, and the opposite. U are talking like Turkey is the only country in the world who has talents. Just because u love some singers in Turkey doesnt mean u know every singer in the world and all other sucks. Grow up!

Yeah it sure is stupid and immature. It´s like I would say I think that the people in my country are smarter than the turks or whatever are.

I really like your passion about Turkish music.

But I think, it is a bit short as your taste did not go much into Turkish Folk music and the great saz players.  There is hundred of years of Anatolian culture passed through Turkish folk music.  Also the art music -´sanat muzigi´-, it takes back in time  to the  refined, languid life style of Ottomans.

You are right. As I said, when writng it, I realised that there was so much Turkish I missed out, such is the diversity of it. I have lived in Turkey for 10 years and slowly getting to understand all the musical options here. I would be really happy if you could send me a couple of links to the type of music you mention.

Thanks again.

As ı said, your opinion and you´re entitled to it. If you think I am stupid and immature for voicing my own personal opinions about Turkish music , then fine absolutely no problem.

Fikret Kızlok - Ama Babacığım

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xd3guf_ama-babacyyym-fikret-kyzylok_music#.UTw9bcVMkU4

Bir bakarsın oyuncağın kırılmış
Arkadaşın sana küsmüş darılmış
Kavga etmiş; kaşın, gözün yarılmış

Yaşlı gözlerle bana gelip sakın üzülme yavrum
Böyle büyür insanlar; ağlamak çare değil
Zaman değirmenini durdurmak kolay değil (ama babacığım)

Sendeki sen sana soru sorunca
Ortaçağı Galile´yi bilince
Okuduğun İnce Memed olunca

Yaşlı gözlerle bana gelip sakın üzülme yavrum
Böyle büyür insanlar; ağlamak çare değil
Zaman değirmenini durdurmak kolay değil (ama babacığım)

Pırıl pırıl bir ilk bahar gününde
İlk aşkının gerçeğinde düşünde
Bir burukluk varsa eğer içinde

Yaşlı gözlerle bana gelip sakın üzülme yavrum
Böyle büyür insanlar; ağlamak çare değil
Zaman değirmenini durdurmak kolay değil (ama babacığım)

Yaşadığın, gördüklerin dışında
Mutluluğu kuytularda bulunca
Birde şöyle etrafına bakınca

Yaşlı gözlerle bana gelip sakın üzülme yavrum
Böyle büyür insanlar; ağlamak çare değil
Zaman değirmenini durdurmak kolay değil (ama babacığım)

Bir gün gelir dünya sana uymazsa
Değiştirmek eğer elden gelmezse
Şarkılarım sana miras kalmışsa

Yaşlı gözlerle bana gelip sakın üzülme yavrum
Böyle büyür insanlar; ağlamak çare değil
Zaman değirmenini durdurmak kolay değil (ama babacığım)
