Quoting nautilis: of course not i m asking, why it is offered to you to keep ur beauty for ur husbands? |
because concealing and not flaunting beauty is seen as a sign of modesty in islam. To be immodest suggests a lack of refined manners which would leave women "the weaker sex" unprotected against men who are the "stronger sex"therefore it is also not right for a muslim man to openly gawp(stare/admire/look at) a woman's beauty)
so to cut a long answer short it is to protect women and our chastity
revised from abdullah yusuf ali's translation and interpretation of the q'uran..

so there is no romantic meaning?? is it only about weaker or stronger sex? |
that is why you should'nt reveal yourself to men other than your husband and other people mentioned.in some muslim families it is even not accepted to be dressed improperly when female friends visit..
its not primarily for sexual purposes as Al Baqarah discusses the intentions of sex as sowing the seed to reap the harvest and not to be indulged to excess etc etc,,that is what i think you were insinuating by romantic reasons..unless I;m wrong in which case I apologise. but not its not for romantic reasons, at least not from my point of view..
again this is from abdullah yusuf ali's interpretation the qur'an.

Sue,
I like, among the others, the first verse of the Koran most- "Read!". So my only suggestion to you would be "read" and find your own answers to your own questions, for I think this route would be best and more sound.

No, Women also wear it as an order from Allah, to respect his wishes as Canli made clear, but there are also some who do not think it is a command but advice, something you should do but as your choice whether to or not and they may only decide to wear it in certain moments such as praying, visiting an imam etc.
