'Merhaba' is also an expresssion of Turkish that exists only in very few other languages.
Do all know where it is used, what it really means and which language it originally comes from?

There is a difference of opinion here...
My source tells me "Merhaba" is a greeting word of Persian origin, roughly meaning " no harm can come from me to you...."
A friend on the panel thinks it is a greeting word originating from Arabic, meaning "joy to everyone...."
Both are nice...could not verify either

That's very interesting. I particularly like the Persian version.

Are you saying it has some far more fundemental meaning than being a greeting?
