I've understood all you wrote up until this point, but this part went clear over my head:-S . I really don't understand the reflexive meaning in these examples... Is it possible for you to explain further? Do I distinguish the use of '-leş/-len' in these examples from the sense of 'becoming' something, or is it simply the same thing?

I will try to explain, but wait for caliptrix. He will do more than me.
The reciprocal and reflexive are different in one point.
***In reciprocal 'the action' is done by at least 2 different people at the same time. And they may be affected by the result of that action together at the same time.
***In reflexive the important thing is 'the subject' is affected by the result of the action.
So we can say that a reflexive verb can be a reciprocal verb if there is more than one person in the action at the same time. If there is an affection by the action done by the verb a reciprocal verb can be a reflexive verb.
Let's see some examples of each.
Reflexive:
Some verbs have different standalone meanings in English, than a Turkish reflexive verb translation.
O gün pek içlendim.
I have been inwardly distressed that day.
Only me has been distressed. I have driven myself into a distressed condition.
Trafik polisini görünce adam tutuştu.
He has been panicked when he saw the traffic officer.
Since he saw the cop himself he has driven himself into a panicked condition.
Birazdan sakinleşir.
He will calm down soon. (himself without having another aid from someone else)
sakin is calm.
sakinleşmek is to become in a calm condition itself.
Reciprocal:
-----TOGETHER-----
Kuşlar uçuştu.
Birds flew. (together they went into the air)
Çocuklar gülüştü.
Kids laughed. (they laughed together at the same time)
Öğrenciler kaçıştı.
Students ran away. (they all ran away)
-----TO EACH OTHER, MUTUALLY-----
Arada bir yazışırız.
We used to correspondence sometimes. 'Each of us sends mails to other one'
Onunla Ankara’da tanıştık. 'We met. Not I met. So we both met each other.'
We met with him in Ankara.
Here onunla is making the things little bit complicated.
It is there to say 'Me and He together'.
Where did you meet with Ahmet?
I met with Ahmet in Ankara.
May not be correct in English grammar but 'with' is there to signify that the action of 'To meet' is done by each of us.
We met each other.
It looks like it won't be much of a help. But I have to leave now for school. I will check and try to explain more when I am back.

Actually, this is very helpful. I think most of my confusion came from not understanding the example sentences. But since you've made them more detailed, I can understand the difference between reciprocal and reflexive now  . Thanks a bundle for your help SunFlowerSeed.
