Although this is kind of unrelated to this site, I am wondering what do different people make as the purpose for their lives. What do you consider as the most important thing/goal in life? What do you devote your life to? What do you want to accomplish, how do you want to live your life knowing that you will eventually die? And how do you feel about the fact that you will die some unpredictable day?

Personally, it’s about being able to look myself in the mirror each day and to be proud of the person I see staring back at me.
Like far too many others, my early life was incredibly difficult. People who know me now are surprised to find out about my youth. I have made myself into the person I need to be and want to be, not the person that my circumstances should have turned me into.
When I am gone, I know that I will have had a positive impact on those who are close to me and I could not ask for anything more.
What is ahead for anyone is unknown but using what has been handed to you and making the most out of what we are dealt…that’s all you can do.

Helping others. Particularly for me, empowering some youth to attain: an education, a sense of self worth, a desire to take care of our envirnoment, promote peace, a willingness to help those in need instead of passing by them with a blind eye and an eagerness to stamp out injustice through avenues of diplomacy. I have my work cut out for me I think....

Vineyards, there is not much to add from that repose - it is what I would say 'put in a nutshell' a bloody big nutshell at that in an extremely articulate way.

Personal opinion means personality... or I am wrong? And weren't religious tractates forbidden here? (And I apologize again if I am wrong.) Anyway, I wouldn't mix Khayyam with any... Bacon.

Life is so short... so don't use it to bore people to death. If your life is not precious to you, their lives are maybe precious to them.

Well said, Duda!

We have essay part for essays and tractates (if their topic wasn't forbidden by rules of the site) and in forum topics it would be nice to hear strict answers to strict questions.

So easy to call people culture-haters or insult them on any other way with no reason, eh?

And from those who mostly complain to lack of tolerance at forums?

Then is it strange that some members gave up of taking part in discussions?

That would be a great privilige for me indeed.

Actually, it was my mistake that I started conversation after all.

Won't happen again, feel free to keep forums for yourself.

OK. I don't understand why you are so annoyed. Now that you are making/defending such comments, you must anticipate the kind of answer you will get in the end.

Well, I am so annoyed because you're constantly accusing me in hating, which is absolutely not true and insults me, ok? I wouldn't be a member of this website for two years if I hated anything about Turkey, Turkish people or Turkish culture. Answering and calling names is not the same, you know. And since this is not the first time, I don't want let it happen again, ok?

It was my last word, you can keep your flowers or whatever for someone else

Why are you arguing and attacking each other people? So easy to jump to conclusions! There is nothing wrong with vineyard's post - it's his understanding of the meaning of life!

People of renown like Ziya Pasha did make those comments openly and stressingly. They did not bore anyone and never became off topic.

Yes, but it does refer to people like Ziya Pasha.

Quoting vineyards:

People I suggest you write your opinions rather than cricize others for writing their opinions. Just bother yourselves to read the title of the topic and try to post a message that you think that complies.

Excellent suggestion! Hope you will hold to that in future!

Quoting vineyards:

Otherwise, all you do will be picking on other people's postings. Is this a "wannabe a site admin" corner? why are you making rude comments about posters? Don't you have a couple of words to indicate your own opinion about whatever the title says.

That's how flaming sessions start.

Brilliant! I never read so honest self-critic! For you, Viney, though I know you are not interested at me too!

Dear catwomen, nothing's wrong with this member's opinion, he has right to think whatever he wants about the meaning of life, but he is BREAKING the Forum Rules. I would remind him to read them again. And I was not off of topic -I can repeat my meaning of life more clearly: Life is short and let's not waste it on trifles.

I don't mind discussing religions privately, but some people wouldn't like your posts and yes, they could take them as your basis. My personal understanding is that your basis is a need to show all your knowledge at all cost. But as I just wanted to give a comment and not to light a fire, I retreat. Peace, brother!

Why should I want to be in good terms with you? Sorry, but I am really not interested in you and your ego. And sorry again, but you will never know about my "salt" because I keep my opinions to myself. Unfortunately, I am not Nietze and I won't commit a suicide... but his philosophy of Übermensch obviously suits you. By the way, I never liked him and it's usually considered as "bad taste" amongst philosophers.

An advice: "Wide river runs calmly, wise man speaks quietly."

But of course, you know who said that... or if you don't, you will find it on Google. Good luck!

When you called me yavşak, I didn't wonder whether they would fire you, did I?

Now stop acting this cheap innocent role! Or I do know how I will tear your mask on your face!
