Well I have sent a number of parcels to Turkey in the past. I think out of the 7 or 8 parcels (letters etc) I think only 4 of them made it to their destination!
If you are posting to the busy cities I think you have a better chance.

Unless it's really important I tend to save them up now and take them with me!

I haven't seen any letters gone missing yet but I have to agree that the turkish post system is not exactly reliable. Recently I received a package all the way from Hakkari and it had taken only about 2 weeks. But I think it's a good idea to send it to real addresses in Turkey. By real addresses I mean that some places don't have actual addresses, like mahalles etc. and other areas may have 2 different names so the post system may not know where to send it to. My in-laws don't even have an address

How come that? :-S Is it a place very far from the village or city?

I was thinking the same thing...I've posted to the main cities before no problem, longest it's taken is 2 weeks but now a couple of family members are living in Kutahya and it's a bit hit and miss posting there. I've not had much luck.

What does this mean? Does this mean I have to write "postrestant" then the name of the person and then the post office address? Thanks

Poste restante

Poste restante letters should be addressed "postrestant" to the central post office ("Merkez Postanesi") in the town of your choice. It is only necessary to produce and identification card when collecting your letter. This service is for sending and receiving documents from other countries.
