Hiya,
I would like to learn turkish and ive tryed all sorts of books ect but i am still no good, and feel that i would need a tutor but i am from the isle of man anyone got any ideas??

I wish i could!! Really failing tho, they dont do turkish classes over here!! (not popular enough)

Private lessons can be pricey. Here is what I did.
I went to:
www.amazon.com
I bought (1) "Elementary Turkish", by (I think Geoffrey Lewis)
and (2) Turkish Grammer by Lewis Thomas.
Do every exercise in (1)
Go to www.tulumba.com, listen to you sample of Turkish music, buy some CDs, buy some new release Turkish movies.
You can do all this for less than 150 $American.
Lastly, use this forum. The "LANGUAGE FORUM" is very good people will usually very long answers to questions.
Lastly, it takes a couple years to learn any language. My stepdaughter said it was over a year before she could knew what was going on, and 3 years to be fairly proficient. I've been at this for 15 monthes. I can "sort of" follow the news now. I

Get a dictionary and a notepad watch the Turkish news and Turkish TV Diziler, you will be surprised how much you will retain. BTW it worked for me and I live in Los Angeles
