yeah ha! If someone said to you...I envy your beauty. One here would interpret that to mean, I wish I were as beautiful as you" as a matter of fact it is used quite frequently by one saying "Im jealous of you" also.
If one were to say "I covet your beauty" one might interpret that to mean "Your beauty is mine"
But when one here says "I envy you" we interpret it as Im jealous of you and/or what you have NOT what others might be coveting, envying or having jealousy of.
I hope that makes sense.
by the way...hehe I wouldnt take his jealousy as a silliness. I would interpret jealousy from anyone a very serious emotion indeed.

Here your boyfriend means that he covets you. you are his for the looking...not for others.

He is not jealous of your beauty dagdelen but he is jealous of someone who sees your beauty via photo
