I'd like to give you some "interesting" results of a recent research carried out in Turkey. Maybe, you may get a better understanding of the danger coming. More and more we're getting closer to a religious state, and the turkish society is getting more and more religious. And there's no doubt that in the coming years, together we'll see how the secular democratic Turkey turns to an Islamic state.

1)"Are the holy books or the scientific foundings more important in order to understand the world and the universe?"

59% of the AKP (party of conservatives/islamists) voters
46% of the MHP (party of ultra nationalistes) voters
15% of the CHP (party of social democrats)voters

have stated that "the holy books are more important"

2)"Is it sin for a woman to wear swimsuit/bikini on the beach, at the pool?"

83% of the AKP voters
63% of the MHP voters
14% of the CHP voters

have said: "yes, it's a sin"

3)"During the Ramadan, should the restaurants stay open during the day or stay close until the breaking of the Ramadan fast?"

53% of the AKP voters
30% of the MHP voters
12% of the CHP voters

have answered this as "they should stay close"

We're in a democratic state, so if the majority of the people want they can bring Sharia to Turkey. That would be very democratic!

mltm, are those the statistics which you build you worries about ?
As if you come to a Muslim person and ask drinking alcohol are sin or not ?!

First one,
1)"Are the holy books or the scientific foundings more important in order to understand the world and the universe?"
The Holy books order human to think,to study, but scientific foundings doesnt order people to understand their religions,so who is wider ?

Second one,
2)"Is it sin for a woman to wear swimsuit/bikini on the beach, at the pool?"
İt is a sin for a woman to wear swimsuit/bikini because it is Haram!
what do you expect them to say?
İts allowed in İslam ?
İf the question was
2)"should woman be punished for wearing swimsuit/bikini on the beach, at the pool?"

İn that case,i can understand your worries !

Third one,
3)"During the Ramadan, should the restaurants stay open during the day or stay close until the breaking of the Ramadan fast?"
İm against it too,and as i can see,not all the AKP were with it too
İslam didnt say anything about closing restaurants during Ramadan
Who doesnt want to fast,it something between him and ALLAH

And something else, why are you talking about AKP only ?
MHP voted almost same,
Doesnt that tell you something ?!

Gül's wife will be Turkey's first headscarf wearing first lady
thats nice
Sezer does not plan to invite Abdullah Gül's wife for the handover ceremony
they try to do something Comfort them

Ataturk's wife also wearing scarf sometimes... she wont be the first i am afraid...

but as long as we have people thinking like you... thats too bad... instead of talking about how they look like and wear and using this as a political term, they should consider what they can make good things about Turkey...

not all of the country is Muslim here and you cant control and have right to do this... when governing a country you should try to be obejcetive as much as you can...

may be you don't like AKP team but we all have to respect results of elections ,and don't forget thats not another force beyond the national volition and political stablization the most important thing for developing or the more powerfull economy,so thats better to wait a long while with patiance ..

My friend, it is not the problem that i dont like AKP or not... and this election result were not surprising for me, because the AKP played the game really well during the propaganda times... they knew how to reach societies heart,

what matter is that i dont like anyone in government who doesnt work! it doesnt matter if its A,B or C person...i want to something is moving on... but what they do is just nonsense..
as if our country is not losing time... their defining their candidate at the last time... i want work! thats all!

From my point of view so far do not understand how a piece of cloth Put on the head pose a threat to the state system
Personal freedom, including the freedom to choose appropriate clothing urgent need any society wants evolution, it is not the right of any power to compel people to a certain ambiguity or confusion of what it wants if the dress acceptable to the community
so who worried or afraid to be the First Lady wearing a veil without considering what the new president will do, is a bad thinking
Finally I would like to admire the first lady, who standing in front of a secular extremist scientific way smart not succumb to pressures and temptations, but proved its position of refusing to rip woman, and I think that helped her husband in consistent position, although he is a man of political attempts to ascend to power in the country secular extremist

i dont even care if his wife poses around with a bikini...
but stating oh she will be first one with head scarf...
this is wrong! you just mention that head scarf has something to do... you just give material to the outcoming discussions..

and for Gul? how do you know this man? about his past? what did he do for foreign affairs? now he will be make good president for turkey?

the only point i love about him is that.. he has a good speach and very good knowledge about english... but the rest is no good! even he had some skandals about Central Banking of Turkey...

politics are not that easy my friend...
in turkey there is politic with money... not with work...
