I heard the news on TV. More than 300 were reported dead.

As a coincidence 8 years ago this night at 3:02 pm we had Gölcük earthquake. 7.4 in Richter scale. There were some news on TV reminding that this night is that night.

I've been thinking and praying for the people who suffered from the disaster. I also worried about my friends in Peru, whom I had emailed to but got no response. They are in Lima, Manchay and Pachacamac. Do you know whether these places are one of those affected areas?

Thank you all of you for your concern.
Now new and more information came up , there are over 500 deaths and as for Ninja's Question , the most affected areas were Lima and especially two cities :
PISCO and ICA - 8 degrees richter -(this last town is literally destroyed)
No food, water , electricity , phone , the bodies still on the floor cos the hospital is collapsed .
International Help is highly needed ...!
I think it could have happen to us here in Chile as well...we have the most powerful earthquake ever registered! It was in Valdivia, (south Chile) and it was 9,5 degrees richter scale ...

¡ Fuerza Perú !
Dilara.

I just received an email from my friends in Peru. Thank God they are alright, only that there was no water and electricity for some days. The affected areas are many miles away from their residence. Yet many people suffered in the disaster. Hope the relief work would go on smoothly.
