Attending a class to start with would make the initial stages easier....Later you can work on your own to improve your command of the language.

I would not bother too much with grammar..See if you can speak and be generally understood by people around you...Most Turks somehow manage that !

ahhh ok thank you I mean, I know some stuff already, gramma wise, and I know quite a lot of vocab that I've picked up along the way, so really I just want to extend that and improve it

Actually you cannot seperate them.Reading news or wellknown child stories ,wting notes -at least on this site, listening songs and of course studying grammar and vocabulary are important for begining and learning.

Quoting AlphaF:

Here in this panel, the most popular approach adopted by the ladies, towards science of language learning appears to be getting a boy friend first.

How the mastery of the language follows afterwards is a mystery to me !

lol I laughed SO hard at this!

Actually, it's not required to learn the language but it sure helps to have someone to talk to in Turkish and make you look up stuff in the dictionary. Also, why would so many girls NEED to learn turkish otherwise. lol I mean people don't just wake up one day and say, "hey, I want to learn turkish." It's not like spanish, or (in hawaii's case Japanese) because it helps in some Jobs to be bilingual.
