Quoting AEnigma III: Quoting femme_fatal: Quoting AEnigma III: Quoting SuiGeneris: i was just wondering if in the other countries language forums or culture forums if it exist...
is it the same like this
is it discussed this much for other country's men? |
Well it may seem strange to you, but YES it is pretty unique to Turkish men. If women go to Greece, Spain, Italy etc. they usually meet other tourists. Its a fact that the Turkish tourist industry encourage flirting by staff. There is a similar system in Tunisia and Egypt, but not to the same extent as Turkey.
Sorry, but its true. |
are you a better traveller than LL? |
Well, I have travelled to many of the same countries as her because we had similar jobs - but no, this is not based on my personal experience.
It something that is talked about A LOT in British media. Unfortunately it has got to the point that, if you say you are going to Turkey, people nudge and wink at you with a knowing smile!!!!!!! |
Yeh, specially if you are women going without men and you sound well experienced Aenigma ! Me and my mates, we always say, "we know what ya going for" nudge nudge wink wink

I have NO personal experience thank you Hawk!!! I went to a Turkish resort only once (with my (then) boyfriend) and even THEN they were trying to flirt!!! But I certainly didn't get involved with any D*D*!!!!!!
There are guys everywhere - why go to a resort for a bad one ? |
So how come you are so well informed then? :-S (want a puzzled smilie thing).
You seem to know such a lot about Turkish men. How can you judge if you dont have personal experience?
Me thinks you do really but you not letting on

Quoting femme_fatal: Quoting Kelebek: EXCUSE ME GIRLS but TURKISH MEN are decent... they are real men..and they might be Du Du's just to the girls who deserve it..
but to decent girls they are the best men...because decent girls deserve their angelic side..and No they are not comparable to men from other countries in which they treat all girls same..
So if you really want to date a turk.. make sure ur the decent one.. |
im sorry to say: this is the most stupid post among other stupid posts i read on this site written by many alike butterflies. |
Thank you FF! I agree completely! I was so upset reading that. I have met both good and bad men in every walk of life.
But if this is your mentality....(Kelebek) You still have a lot to learn in this life!
If the so called decent turkish men you speak of are really DECENT human beings, they will never use or abuse any woman. Whether they thought it deserving or not!
Common sense!

Quoting Hawk: Please tell me, and everyone else here, how come you can make such sweeping judgements on Turkish resort workers, based on a little bit of flirting and a few biased media tales during your one visit to a Turkish resort?
And of course all the media stories are true and no one gets paid for the story either
|
Oh dont be so naive!! Don't scream "media lies" to me on this one! The stories are usually told by the women themselves who have been cheated out of money!!! We also had a Turkish Class member here who used to work in the industry and he was very graphic in his descriptions of exactly what these men get up to!
I dont need PERSONAL experience to have knowledge about the Turkish tourism industry. "personal experience" would merely imply that I had had sex/an affair with a waiter!!!
I am pretty well informed about the industry - are you? I am not saying they are all animals. However, the men employed at resorts are GENERALLY from poor families and they are poorly educated and have to work very very long hours for very little money (as quoted by Lyndie "around £100-£150 per month, for 18 hour working days, 6/7 days a week). Many have medical problems, bad teeth, etc. and this can eventually cause problems with employment because hotel managers like to employ handsome men who will flirt with women (it is more lucrative for them in the bars and restaurants).
Most stay unemployed during the winter and many are relied upon to help their families financially too. They are often not considered "good enough" to marry Turkish girls in their villages. This is the main reason why so many seek foreign women - it is an escape and their chance for a new life.
I feel sorry for them - but it doesn't mean that I should condone what they do, nor the fact that many of the tourist girls are lied to and cheated out of money.
I have many Turkish friends actually Hawk and would never generalise about Turkish men. Like it or not though, there is still a BIG difference between city dwellers and those who live in small villages - both culturally and academically. My comments about tourist workers are pretty much accurate. Sorry if it offends you.
