Quoting Hawk:

Please tell me, and everyone else here, how come you can make such sweeping judgements on Turkish resort workers, based on a little bit of flirting and a few biased media tales during your one visit to a Turkish resort?

And of course all the media stories are true and no one gets paid for the story either

Oh dont be so naive!! Don't scream "media lies" to me on this one! The stories are usually told by the women themselves who have been cheated out of money!!! We also had a Turkish Class member here who used to work in the industry and he was very graphic in his descriptions of exactly what these men get up to!

I dont need PERSONAL experience to have knowledge about the Turkish tourism industry. "personal experience" would merely imply that I had had sex/an affair with a waiter!!!

I am pretty well informed about the industry - are you? I am not saying they are all animals. However, the men employed at resorts are GENERALLY from poor families and they are poorly educated and have to work very very long hours for very little money (as quoted by Lyndie "around £100-£150 per month, for 18 hour working days, 6/7 days a week). Many have medical problems, bad teeth, etc. and this can eventually cause problems with employment because hotel managers like to employ handsome men who will flirt with women (it is more lucrative for them in the bars and restaurants).

Most stay unemployed during the winter and many are relied upon to help their families financially too. They are often not considered "good enough" to marry Turkish girls in their villages. This is the main reason why so many seek foreign women - it is an escape and their chance for a new life.

I feel sorry for them - but it doesn't mean that I should condone what they do, nor the fact that many of the tourist girls are lied to and cheated out of money.

I have many Turkish friends actually Hawk and would never generalise about Turkish men. Like it or not though, there is still a BIG difference between city dwellers and those who live in small villages - both culturally and academically. My comments about tourist workers are pretty much accurate. Sorry if it offends you.

Still. Put any man in the situation, as beeing a barman in a tourist industry, and he would too be with many maaany girls. Doesn't matter if he doesn't have an education or not, it's just human instincts.

Of course - but they rarely pretend to love all of them

Hehe, I didn't mean that they loved them, of course they don't! But I don't think it would make any difference at all if it was a Turkish man without education, or an English man with education. If they we're both working as a bartender, then I am 100% sure that they both would be with as many women as possible. Seriously, the women are handed to them on a silver platten? It's just too easy for them!

Ahh, misread your comment. No maybe they don't pretend to love them, but if it could get them sex for one straight week, then I am sure an English man would do the same.

I guess you dont understand my point? Of course, everywhere in the world, men and women have one-night stands. What they GENERALLY dont do though, is pretend very quickly that they are madly in love with them, ask for money, say they want to marry, to move to your country, get their visa and then leave you

You know, it seems that so many people are offended by our comments about tourist workers in Turkey. And yet, year after year the "holiday romances" seem to end the same way (with a very few exceptions).

I dont really care if you want to be cheated, believe the lies, be submissive to a sexist misogynist, get beaten, and generally abused - that's your call.

Just don't expect us all to take your "big loves" as seriously as you do.

Yes, I see your point now, and I do agree with you mostly. But I do believe a lot of the girls are too stupid and naive to believe that a fullgrown man at prox 22 years, wants to move in and marry you after one week. It's just not right (;

Btw, how many times have you been in Turkey? You seem to be a regular on this Forum?

A few times, only once to a holiday resort
