I was wondering if anyone living in Ankara knew of something about a phone company/internet company in Ankara that is currently having job layoffs??

I am being told that my friends phone and internet is not being connected because the company is having layoffs. It's been 2 weeks! I'm not saying my friend is lieng but its sounds strange that itwould take 2 weeks to have aphone and internet turned on due to layoffs. He says he is trying to meet someone that is in the phone company so maybe it can be turned on sooner. Can someone from Ankara enlighten me a bit?

Thankyou! =))

Seraph THIS IS A TURKEY WIDE PROBLEM not just Ankara.

The national telephone company Türk Telekom is ON STRIKE! So no one is working to connect telephones, connect ADSL internet etc. If you are an existing customer you may get some disruption (one day last week our ADSL was out for 2 hours) if there is a glitsch at the telephone exchange no one except managers are there to fix it. If you need a new connection then you will wait until the end of the strike before your new phone is installed.

We are moving our bookstore depot, and have applied for the telephone line to be transfered to the new building. We have to wait to the end of the strike before it is connected. So even businesses are having to wait. Domestic lines will be lower priority than business customers once the strike is over, and they will be having to deal with a HUGE backlog.

My friends live in Istanbul and recently move into a new apartment. They tried to get the internet connected about 3 weeks ago and they are still waiting. They too said Turk Telekom were on strike.

Ohh Yes! I read this! Incredible advice! I was thinking of following the advice of getting drunk doing a striptease on the dinner table and hitting them with my shoe...I think it will go over very well, but I am thinking of waiting until his grandparents join for dinner

right off the bat I remember low cut shirt, short short skirt, "thrusting" on the dinner table and shoe smacking. I will have to search harder for the other advices ..
