I was wondering if anyone living in Ankara knew of something about a phone company/internet company in Ankara that is currently having job layoffs??

I am being told that my friends phone and internet is not being connected because the company is having layoffs. It's been 2 weeks! I'm not saying my friend is lieng but its sounds strange that itwould take 2 weeks to have aphone and internet turned on due to layoffs. He says he is trying to meet someone that is in the phone company so maybe it can be turned on sooner. Can someone from Ankara enlighten me a bit?

Hi Seraph - it does sound a bit suspect, however I don't think its anything bad. My guess is that he has not been able to pay his phone bill and the phone company have disconnected his phone and internet.

Maybe his pride is preventing him from telling you. I think I would say the same! At least he is not asking for help

No h'es not asking for help, but if he's not saying the truth it means he's avoiding me...He lives with his parents and they just moved. He's always said before about economical problems...so...I don't know...I've been tempted to use my calling card and try dialing the number but what happens if someone asnwers lol I don't know much turkish, and then he would get angry I called...

I didn't imply at all that he is asking for help . If there has been economical problems, I still think my first guess was right.

If I were you I would not pursue it further at the risk of embarassing him. Doesn't he have a cell phone you can contact him on in the meantime?

Well, my advice (for what its worth!) would be to NOT try to contact him. The more you chase someone, the less interesting you become

Let HIM worry about what YOU are doing. Let HIM worry about how he can contact you If he was really desparate I am sure he has friends who have internet, or could use an internet cafe?

If you call him will it make him want you more?

He has been going to internet cafe, but I was justwondering how common it is for a layoff to prevent residence from having phone and internet service for 2 weeks! It's strange...he went 3 days without saying a word, and then finally e-mailed me yesterdaysaying he missed me etc and why havn't I e-mailed...I e-mailed him back saying I wasn't going to email him until he did first...It's frustrating...He's never been so strange until now. I'm feeling like I have little strings attached to my wrists right now.

Seraph, I REALLY REALLY think that his internet and phone have been cut off because of financial problems. Try not to worry and just see what happens in the next few weeks

i'd like to write something its true it can be a while to open a new connection for the internet,beacuse when i was in Turkey and i wanted the internet it took 2 weeks to open an internet account,and your friend moved to another house,this may delay it even more.When your friend comes onto the internet again ask him/her what's taking so long?

They said it was job layoffs Seker..that the phone company is having job layoffs and so not much work is being done etc. The only reason I'm suspect is because this "friend" is my fiance and he's beensaying how he's in a confused state and doesn't know what he wants right now...and then himand family moved, and now this...all after we had our big talk about not knowing what he wants (We were suppose to marry in July)..When he is at internet cafe he says for me to not talk 'sweet' to him using affectionate words because he is worried someone will see and try to take my msn adress off the screen...(i know he's jealous) and not even say love words. But only when he starts saying is it ok for me to say...but then he use to email me every time he was on internet when he was away, and I've seen that he's logged on a few times, and hasn't even said anything in e-mail to me..he went 3 days...
So tat's why I was suspect..didn't know if he was just trying to brush me off...because he hasn't even taken his new adress down to give it to me yet...it's frustrating...
Sorry about the ramble...I shouldn't alow myself to get so moody over my DuDu..it's not like I can do anything about it.

Seraph I actually do feel sorry for you (unusual for ME, I know ). I would give him some time to sort himself out (one way or another).

In the meantime, I would seriously think about how you would feel being married to somebody who is so jealous. At the moment he can only control what you write on msn - what the hell will he demand of you when you are together?

My friends live in Istanbul and recently move into a new apartment. They tried to get the internet connected about 3 weeks ago and they are still waiting. They too said Turk Telekom were on strike.

right off the bat I remember low cut shirt, short short skirt, "thrusting" on the dinner table and shoe smacking. I will have to search harder for the other advices ..
