Because people think this is a part of Islam... What people believe should not be misunderstood with what the religion is really. Already in this forum there is so many things which were said about religion and were false so I say that piece of paper is stupid and not a part of Islam.

just because you don't believe in it. It doesn't make it stupid. You don't hear those of muslim faith saying that wearing the cross of jesus is stupid. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, however when our opinion tries to mark one group or another as stupid then it becomes insulting. We do not insult the difference in religions as then we are throwing stones at glass houses.

Karine I am Muslim, and if my fiance sent me that "s" piece of paper I would gladly wear it...No it is not necissary, but it is as prayer beads are, or as catholics Saints neclaces...Stop being so harsh with Religion and beliefs. It is not the belief but the culture yes, but it is still beuaitful the way people show thier love for thier religion. I love Islam, and I would gladly wear/do anything for Islam that is Halal. In this case, a neclace with a prayer on it...Don't be so harsh..

What I say is this; Since you're muslim you should learn your religion from good sources... I am sure your fiance doesn't have bad intention but he just doesn't know about Bidah in Islam. Try to search by yourself.

What is Bidah to Sunni may not be Bidah to Shi'a. Which leads us back to the original discussion. Because one believes it does not make it necessarily wrong.

In the muslim world the majority is sunni and also in Turkey the majority is sunni.
Shia are a minority in Iran. Sunni doesn't consider them as believer.
Shiism is a islamic sect.

btw I found out the name of the neclace my fiance wears. It is called "cevşen"  Are you Muslim Karine?

You trust me, I have seen many of them. I heard about how they are written on those little papers.
They have nothing to do with Islam. They have nothing to what they believe. It is like old wives tales.
So it is absolutely rubbish.
