Hi,
I was wondering if any of you knows if it's difficult for a Turkish citizen to get visa to visit a friend living in the EU?
Thanks in advance

Generally - extremely difficult. If its the UK they will need a letter from a UK resident, who will have to supply bank details and basically sponsor the visit. I think it is slightly easier to get to Germany and Holland but not sure about other EU countries. I believe the visa for UK is very expensive - but many people on this site have had experience of this situation and I am sure you will get lots of answers!

yes I have read about what's needed to apply -but once you've presented what's asked for AND paid a fortune (do you have any idea of HOW much it is?) will the visa be granted -generally that is? Do you know?
Thanks for your time

To be honest;
when you have the all paper works ready and in good economical conditions there is no problem.
But in the real, you are using your right "to apply visa" for the being interested country, so nothing is exact.
And its sad that people at visa departments and consulates are sick of with the situation Turkish people moving to other countries for girlfriends... so the best is to move with a travel agency... and showing it as a travel...

it is difficult but there is no problem if the person you invite has fixed salary, insurance and steady job. When I sent govermental invitation there was no problem for anyone who had those above, but I guess it depends on the country requirements not on EU general polices.

haha! Do you think it would help if I'd say that I'm asking for a friend who wants to invite a relative?

Carla
It is really difficult..I have 'hands on' experience on this matter.
First of all all visa officers are heartless people.
And more, they ask really weird questions.
Once they asked my fiencee's father's name as if I was going to marry him!!
On another occasion, they asked my bank accounts and having a great knowledge about my fiancee's did not help.
your friend should know geography as well. They asked where we would live And 'ermm humm, an island' is not a good answer for the UK. So you friend should know the city you will live at least.
And also make sure you friend remembers your surname (I used to write them in my hand with a pen after failing once). They are quite strict on that!!
And they also ask what you will do in that country. Apperantly they dont like 'it is a matter to me and my fiancee'. It is not a good answer. And also they dont like answers like 'I will massage in turkish baths or I am a barman'. They are being refused straight away.
My conclusion is that they are just heartless..So be prepared for a negative answer!!
