Merry Christmas In The Midst Of WarAlthough there's war around us
Although there's war around us
Christ's Spirit is still here
While many loved ones are away
His Spirit still brings cheer
He gives hope for tomorrow
Lightens our hearts within
The candle will burn brighter
as it grows a little dim
The birth of His dear Son
is the greatest Gift to all
His plan was for salvation
to everyone who hears His call
Have A Blessed Christmas!

I never knew that Boxing Day was a pagan celebration. In Dutch we just call it 'Second Christmas Day'.
And to answer the question, many people celebrate it, also the non-religious ones. Though I am far from Christian or any kind of religion, Christmas has always been an important bayram for me.

Quoting ciko: i wonder if christmas is celebrated by only christians.. or is it a tradition for all westerns? |
It seems that most people enjoy the goodwill that is shared in the Christmas season. I go to many interfaith Holiday parties during the Christmas season and we all have fun, whether we are Christian or not. I have spent several Christmas's with my Muslim husband and he has never complained about celebrating the season. He has never said....no honey, please, don't buy me a gift this year, or no, I will pass on all that lovely food. Some Christmas traditions have become rather secular. Unlike many other Christians, I don't see it as a bad thing. I like that the Holiday has a spirit that transends all religions confines.

Actually it is Christians who highjacked the pagan holiday of Noel which celebrates the winter solstice. Traditions like Christmas Trees and present giving are not Christian. In fact, Christ was not born on 25th December so is not a capricorn .
It was seen as a convenient time to merge both celebrations.

Christians are very good at hijacking with the thought that "if you can't beat them, join them". Many pagan Godesses/Gods were later named as saints. For example, the the Irish/Welsh (ect...) goddess for home and hearth "Brid" was changed into St. Bridget. There are many examples of this happening in early Christianity. But, I digress.....Hope everyone enjoys the remaining holiday season.
