No they are not just a Muslim thing, some orthadox Jewish women even wear wigs and sometimes scarves to cover their hair. Also think about the idea of the virgin mary..the image of her with the scarf over her head in the nativity scene.

Actually, it's not like moslem veil because ancient jewish women covered only their hair because they used to say that the hair of a jewish woman is the glory of her husband.
Nowadays, in my country, ortodox jewish women use wigs and clothes with long sleeves even in summer.

Alpha it's not a muslim thing, it's an Abrahamic religion thing

But loads of muslims also use the fashions posted in the link actually.

Nowadays I thought many orthodox Jews use wigs to cover their, because for them (as I have read anyway) it's not about guarding one's beauty but hiding one's natural hair. They also blend in much more easier this way.

That is a very honourable suggestion - I think you would make at least 2 meals for an average size polar bear

Actually, it is older than that....it was reported that initiates to the cult of Isis wore veils...that morphed into the cult of Demeter...Our Lady of Byblos...
