Stories of human kindness

What with all the negativity, I thought a thread reporting ramdom acts of kindness would be nice.
Here is one:
Kitten found after scampering into subway 25 days ago
"Captivated by the tale of the missing pet, track flagman Mark Dalessio and track inspector Efrain LaPorte had been diligently checking the area where Georgia had been spotted by a Con Ed worker on Wednesday.
The two MTA workers combed the rails below Lexington Ave. near 55th St. with a cat's pajamas of a strategy.
"As I was walking down the track, I was making cat sounds, meowing," Dalessio told the Daily News. "I heard a 'meow' back and I thought it was LaPorte. I thought, 'Wow, LaPorte is inspired.' "
"Then I heard it again," Dalessio said. "I looked down, and said, 'It's Georgia!' "
The frightened feline was taking shelter in a foot-deep metal drain between two tracks when she was spotted.
As Dalessio extended his hand toward the cat, sweet Georgia gave him a lick.
"It was kinda cute," he said. "I can imagine the fear the cat had with trains going by."
The track workers called police, and in minutes, NYPD transit cops Sgt. Daniel Green and Police Officer Ilker Ozuk climbed down and rescued the cat."

Great idea for a thread Alameda!
I have a little boy in my class with Downs Syndrome and he also has Autism. It is wonderful to see his class mates take such pleasure in his company and in helping him.

Well it's inspirational to see how many stories of human kindness we have found to report on thus far.....
Here is one from my own experience....
I got locked out of my car...keys got locked inside because they were on a long toggle and the wind blew the door shut with the keys inside.
All I had was my bluetooth earpiece...phone, keys and everything was inside. I could get a call, but not make one. I didn't want to leave the car unattended with valuables displayed on the front seat. I asked a passing couple if they would call AAA for me, which they did.
It was going to be a long wait on a hot day in mid day with the full sun and no shade in an asphalt covered parking lot, so I was crouched down by my car so as to get a little bit of shade.
An elderly woman, who was getting in the car next to me, gave me a frightened look. I explained to her why I was there and what happened. Meanwhile the couple who let me call with their phone came back to with some cool water they bought for me. The frightened lady decided I needed protection, so she stayed with me til AAA came.
AAA came and my door was opened and my faith in the kindness and inate goodness of humans was restored.
AAA
Although probably the most known, emergency road services and maps are not the only member services provided by AAA. A not-for-profit organization, AAA is dedicated to making all facets of life as smooth as possible.

It does take little acts of kindness to remember that most humans are generally good. I also have AAA ever since I was 16 and have used it a number of times, it does come in handy..

They are one of the best deals around. All it takes is one little incident and you will be very happy you have it. Their maps are great and if you are taking a trip they will make a map for you showing the best route to take.

Family
I ran into a stranger as he passed by, "Oh excuse me please" was my reply.
He said, "Please excuse me too; I wasn´t watching for you."
We were very polite, this stranger and I. We went on our way and we said goodbye
But at home a different story is told, How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal, My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down. "Move out of the way," I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken. I didn´t realize how harshly I´d spoken.
While I lay awake in bed, God´s still small voice came to me and said,
"While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use, but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor, You´ll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you. He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise, you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes." By this time, I felt very small, And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed; "Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.
"Are these the flowers you picked for me?" He smiled, "I found ´em, out by the tree.
I picked ´em because they´re pretty like you. I knew you´d like ´em, especially the blue."
I said, "Son, I´m very sorry for the way I acted today; I shouldn´t have yelled at you that way." He said, "Oh, Mom, that´s okay. I love you anyway."
I said, "Son, I love you too, and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."
the word family means: FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Hmmm....guess some could read it that way, but if you need it, it saves a lot of dollars. Almost everyone around here has it.
Get locked out of y our car, need a tow, need a battery charge or run out of gas, need a you to fix a tire and you can call them and your yearly dues entitle you to free service. I have called a couple of times this year and it more than paid for itself. You can also get free maps or travel routes planned.
If you drive and are in an area where they have good service, it´s a good investment IMHO.

Back to stories of human kindness...
When I was in Turkey, few years back, I needed to travel to another city from Istanbul. I went to a place where you buy tickets and managed to communicate with the person where I wanted to go and when, but could not understand where I was supposed to go with that ticket! There was no bus stations with clear numbers of terminals or anything of that sort... there was apparently some logic to how that system worked, but it was certainly not intuitive! After some time of struggle to communicate, some person who was also in this particular office gestured that he would show me how to find my way! He took a bus with me that would take us to the main bus station. When we got there, it turned out that I missed my connection and I would have to buy another ticket! The helpful man somehow convinced them to give me another ticket and then waited with me for about 2 hours till I got on the right bus! Never mind that he was trying to convince me to visit him and to give him my phone number..

In New York City this happened many times to me. During the winter after it snows they plough the streets and the snow piles up in the gutters. It gets very yucky...in fact really disgusting. At times I´ve seen piles on the side of the sidewalk as high as 2 meters or more. At the intersections it gets tramped down, some melts and turns into ice. Water/ice forms on the top and it can get deep. On numerous ocassions some gentleman has helped me accross by carrying me over it all.
New Yorkers can be very nice that way, fighting for a taxi during rush hour is another thing.

I am pretty sure he had some sexual interests in mind, but even despite my refusal, he seemed not to mind helping. He really saved me there.

These guys are embarresing for all of us catwoman..
They are losers..
They are lowering the image of Turkish men ´by investing hours and hours of hard work and then failing´!! and showing us as if we are pathetic losers.
The success rate of ´a Turkish man shows an interest and gets the telephone number of a foreign girl´ is more than 61% apperantly.
And the guys like you mentioned above are lowering that rate
If it was me I could have returned back with your mobile number, your work number, your several addresses, your msn and your heart etc in less than 10 mins..
