Quoting kafesteki kus: all the best...teaching English make yourself familiar with callan method,i think nobody teaches that in Turkey...no effort, license cheap..a lot of satisfaction and pleasure seeing sts speaking English at once |
Hi Kafesteki,
Thanks for the advice I will look into this for sure
Quoting Daydreamer: Good luck there! I'm sure once you get teaching qualifications you'll have no problem finding a job or finding students if you prefer being self-employed.
Callan method? Yuck! I'm a visual learner so Callan would drive me mad. Still, some people love it... |
Hi Daydreamer,
Thanks for the good luck, I am hoping to teach one to one I do not have the confidence to teach to a small class or I think the qualifications to.
Quoting angelina7: Hi Richard
Just want to send my very best wishes to you and Nesrin for your future life together. I would imagine that at this moment you are very excited but also, at the same time, maybe a bit apprehensive. It's a big step to take but such an important one as this is now the start of your future. Good luck Richard and wish you well x |
Hi Angelina,
Thankyou for your best wishes I am very nervous at the moment but excited also, it is a step I have to make and one that I will go into with both eyes firmly open
Best wishes Angelina Rich and Nes

hi lovepraque, just to let you know im teaching english ,welllllllllllllllll im trying just take a weekend TEFL course ,thats all I did ,they are desperate out here for native english speakers.I dont know if my students are learning anything from me ,but what tends to happen here is, the turkish speaking teachers teach the grammer side of English ,and the native English teachers just talk about general everyday situations. The students just need the experience of hearing a native speaker for good pronunciation. I often tell my students to close there books and we just talk Yes its scarey and yes sometimes I think am i really helping these guys learn my language ,but they all seem soooooooooooo keen to hear the sounds of correct pronuciation, and when they have been saying it wrong and hear it correctly spoken ,they are deligthed, so
what im trying to say is dont be nervous about teaching a class of students ,one bit of advice though, try and teach older students in their twenties and thirties, not kids
veryyyyyyyyyyy difficult, and hard graft. I also have a few private lessons where I am tryingggggggggggg to teach five seven year old turkish boys English ,but its hard work. Good luck and all my veryyy heart felt best wishes for you and you dear Nesrin

Hi Deli,
Thanks very much for your advice, I am just getting ready to start my TEFOL course, I have to go into hospital before I go to Turkey for an operation so it will be a good recuperation for me while I am resting in our home in Istanbul. I agree with you that teaching an older generation would be much more easier although I do not mind as long as I can help someone.
I wanted Deli to be doing something while I am in Turkey the plan is to come back to England in about two years or less, I just handed in my notice only this week to my employer which was a bit sad as I really like my job here in England.
Your English is very good, sorry I read all of your reply and could not help noticing two spelling mistakes and now I am sure it was just a slip of the keyboard pronunciation and delighted.
Thanks Deli very much for your reply and your best wishes I send you the same
