I booked with one place but there may be a problem now.

I am needing a double room from May 18 - June 8.

It is for my fiance and I. With our own bathroom in the room. I know some hotels won't let a Turk and foreigner stay together too, if not married.

We are getting married but it won't be until the second week I am there.

Not sure what to do.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thx Vivian

Are you asking about the European side? If so, I have stayed at the Ada, but a budget room will run about $90/night U.S. Here is a link:

http://www.adaistanbul.com/roomrates.html

I stayed here in January in one of their larger rooms and paid over $150/night U.S.

If you want the Asian side, here is a link I found:

http://www.silkroadhotels.com/istanbul_ing/asianhotels.htm

I have stayed at two in the past, but can't remember their names and I think they were about $100/night U.S. in the off season. One was located in Tuzla on the Asian side of Istanbul, but I don't have the information on it as I didn't pay for it.

I have stayed at the Yasmak Sultan. It is on the European side. It's my favorite hotel in Istanbul. A bit pricey but wonderful to stay for one or 2 nights if you want to see the sites in Sultanahmet. Everything is walking distance.

Staying in the same hotel with your fiance should NOT be a problem in Istanbul. It can sometimes be a problem in smaller villages/town but I don't know if I have ever heard of it happening in Istanbul/large cities.

It can be a 'problem' egyptian tomb..

Have a look at this site and contact them beforehand. Just tell them what is going on and they might not make a problem of it .
Good luck

Wow...I'm shocked...although I probably shouldn't be. I never encountered a problem before my husband and I were married. We must be the inconspicuous sorts...

Since your are there for 3 weeks you might try a vacation rental. I've rented a few places with flatsinistanbul.com and they were great. Vacation rentals are great alternatives to hotels more space, a kitchen and the only prying eyes are the neighbors...

It won't be a problem really, especially not if you have engagement rings. Actually, tell the hotelowner you are getting married when you have th chance, they will only be happy for you instead of rejecting you a room

Congratulations in advance

Take no notice, nothing wrong with "cheap" I know people who have paid tens of thousands for a wedding only to divorce two years later!

There is a bad connotation with the word "cheap". "Inexpensive" would have been a much better word to use here.
