Yilgun - this a bit of a daft question because unless you have visited many, many cities in Turkey how can you possibly have a favourite? What's your favourite city? How many have you visited? I have been to Istanbul and it is (as everyone says) a fantastic place and probably would be my favourite but I can't say IT IS because I haven't been to any other cities in Turkey.

That is exactly what I thought when I first read Yilgun's question?

I havent been in many cities in Turkey to compare with So, I really cant tell which one is my favorite.

And yes, Istanbul is beautiful, but I am sure there are other cities in Turkey that are as much or even more beautiful than Istanbul

It's hard to choose one city, especially if you haven't visited all of them. But I'll try anyway in different categories:

Beauty, history and exotics:
Istanbul

Life, modernity, pubs and restaurants:
Ankara

Kestane tatlisi:
Bursa lol

The sea, the palm trees, holidays:
Antalya

I love Istanbul for the nostalgic feelings it brings me, I love Hakkâri for the people, I like Bitlis for it's quirkyness...
The first time I went to Ankara I loved it as well but has later come to think it's too wannabe high society for my taste and it doesn't have much variety to offer. A place that I don't like as well is Van. If you want to get killed in traffic that's the place to go! It's too crowded, dirty, and there's only running water every second hour-ish. Kind of the same with Diyarbakir. Don't know about the water situation there but people seem to be cold. I love the weather in Antalya, especially if you have a car to get around, and I would really love to visit Trabzon.
