Can someone explain to me when you should use meye and when to use meyi or are they both the same

Or if you can point me in the right direction if discussed before

Thank you

me+y+i = derivational suffix + buffer letter + accusative

Ex: Ne olduğunu bilmeyi çok istiyorum.

bil - a verb root - to know

bilme - a noun - the name of the action - knowing

bilmeyi - the knowing (this doesnt make sense in English)

Translation: I want to know what happened.

me+y+e derivetional suffix + buffer letter + dative

Ex: Ne olduğunu bilmeye ihtiyacım var

Translation: I need to know what happened.
