Do they ask for a Schengen visa, or is it not required?
A Schengen visa is an agreement between 23 EU countries, that make free travel possible.

Yes it is. Visas for Turks never are easy.
But UK is not in the Schengen, their procedure is different and without free travel, and even harder than the others.

What country are you in, if I may ask?
Besides, your friend needs to have a lot of money too, to be able to come. Don't want to scare you, but visa applications are a pain in the ****.

I am from Lithuania. I`m afraid that my friend won`t come because he is only student and works in hotel at free time. (I`m sorry for my english ) He is very nice, but I don`t think that he has a lot of money to show... We just wanted to travel to Europe this summer.

Your english is fine
I dont know about Lithuania, it could be easier there than for countries such as The Netherlands. You could give it a try by sending him an official invitation letter, stating you are responsible for all financial things, that is, ofcourse, if you are 100% sure you can trust him
And maybe taking a special train-tour could make obtaining a visa easier.

Yes, I will certainly send him an invitation... My father lives in Norway, but I don`t think that it would be easier to get visa there...
And what do you mean train-tour?
