Help with -ki

What is the purpose of the suffix -ki? I can see that it is like -ken in the sense that it doesn't follow the vowel harmony rules.
However, I cannot make it clear to myself why it is used, for example:
"Bu sınıftaki en güzel kız benim"
Why not just
"Bu sınıfta en güzel kız benim"

Here is some more information. I haven't read it myself yet, just found it, but I know what to do tonight!! 
The suffix -ki
I can already say that the suffix -ki has nothing to do with the conjunction -ki-

The suffix -ki- is used in many ways, all i know is that one of the meanings is a bit like: 'that is situated in'.
I haven;t really covered that topic of grammar yet, so i will use this thread to enlarge my own knowledge too 
I hope someone can correct my translations.
Istanbuldaki camileri
- The mosques that are (situated) in Istanbul.
Istanbul'da camiler var
- In istanbul there are mosques.
- Nerede gittin?
- Türkiye'ye gittim, Istanbul'da
- Where did you go?
- I went to Turkey, in Istanbul
- Hangi camileri gördün?
- Istanbuldaki
- Which mosques did you see?
- The ones (that are)in Istanbul.
Is this correct?
Can -ki- also take an accusative nounstate?
I mean like this:
- Hangi camileri gördün?
- Istanbuldakiyi gördüm
- Which mosques did you see?
- I saw the ones (that are)in Istanbul.

İSTANBUL'DAKİ CAMİLER is correct
Istanbul'da camiler var
- In istanbul there are mosques.
CORRECT
- Nerede gittin?
- Türkiye'ye gittim, Istanbul'da
- Where did you go?
- I went to Turkey, in Istanbul,
NEREYE GİTTİN
TÃœRKİYE'DE İSTANBUL'A GİTTİM is correct
- Hangi camileri gördün?
- Istanbuldaki
- Which mosques did you see?
- The ones (that are)in Istanbul.
HANGİ CAMİLER GÖRDÃœN?
İSTANBUL'DAKİ CAMİLERİ GÖRDÃœM is correct
