I have spent the afternoon working on verbs and tenses and have come across a couple that I need clarification on.

In the future tense the verb beklemek is it beklecegim or bekleycegim.

Continuous present the verb gitmek the positive is gidiyorum is the negative gitmiyorum

Thanks guys

bekleyeceğim

and gitmiyorum

bekle ends in a vowel so needs a y to work as a buffer before adding a suffix

It's "bekleyeceğim". You have to add a buffer y to the verb stem and then "ecek".
"Gitmiyorum" is correct.

Ok Thanks. Then how to find out when a vowel can be dropped?

In daily speech 'beklecegim' would be much easier to say than 'bekleyecegim', at least faster and less attention to be paid to the pronunciation. Or is this only because im a foreigner?

I remember there was a thread about dropping vowels, but i cannot find it. Thanks in advance

There isn't one almighty rule for dropping vowels
Sometimes you drop them, for example when you add possessive suffixes (ex. my car: araba + im = arabam)
But in this case you can't drop them.

in daily speech to make it easier -eceğim turns into -cem, and -acağım, -cam.(beklicem, oturcam, etc) bekleceğim is still difficult to pronounce and does not exist in any dialect.Even if you may speak this way with a friend, it is not nice to use -cem/-cam with a person you meet first time.

actually it is spelled like bekleyeceğim : bekliycem(or beklicem), yapacağım : yapıcam(or yapçam), geleceğim : gelicem(or gelcem)
talking turkish in the correct pronounciation can make you tired as its hazardous to your health..

Well, there (sort of) is!!!

For any given suffix you either drop the vowel or add a fusion consonant and that rule remains same for that suffix in all circumstances........

At least that is how I understand it :-S
