Can´t help you much, but this is what Turkish wikipedia says, limited though:
Çatalada or Catal ada (or by its old name Volo), is an island that lies in the Agean Sea at a distance of 3 sea miles from the town of Turgutreis. The island that is situated on the .... coordinates, lies southwest of Bodrum´s Yarýmada Island. there is no settlement nor are there touristic facilities on the island that has two conical hills. It is a famous place for deep sea diving. The closest islands in its surroundings are Topan Island, Coban Island and Yassý Island.
(I dont know if the english word deep-sea-diving exists, but Trudy will understand that I translated directly from dutch literally it says ´diving with tube´.)

Maybe the absence of citizens and touristic places is the reason why google isnt that helpful (nor is wiki for that matter)

Thanks DK. I searched for the other island names on Turkish Wiki as well, I found some links but I wasn´t sure if it was about islands or other topics - my Turkish is not good enough to understand it all. Can you please search for me on these island names: Yassý Island, Topan Island, Çoban Island, Tüllüce Island and Sarýot Island? Thanks a lot! (Duizendmaal dank!)
NB. the links you gave don´t work anymore...

"Turgutreis has pristine, clear blue sea and long sandy beaches. The Çatal islands and the surrounding hills make up its famous panorama. The beaches of Turgutreis are long enough to accommodate thousands of people at a time. The endless blue waters embracing Turgutreis is adorned with 14 beautiful islands, famous for offering refuge to seafarers. Çatal Island, Yassý Island, Topan Island, Çoban Island, Tüllüce Island and Sarýot Island are just some of these Turkish islands; Kos (Istanköy) and other Greek islands are some of the neighboring Greek islands." (taken from : http://www.turgutreis.info/portal/turgutreis/tarihi.asp)
"ÇATAL ISLAND This small island that accompanies the extraordinary sunset to be witnessed at Turgutreis is an excellent palce to relax for lonely explorers who love to stay away from the "shores of civilization". The cyrstal clear waters of the bay makes one witness the feeling of untouched beauties. You can spend hours in Çatal Island with no sound except the whisper of the sea. Besides the sweet whisper of the sea, maybe the scream of a sea-gull will interrupt this tranquility. But you can be sure that Çatal Island will return to its blue silence, just like diving into a dream." taken from: (http://www.capinsaat.com/eng/turgutreis.php)

Don´t get too excited Trudy - they are not that beautiful! Çatal (Fork) Island is the first stop for most of the boat trips out of Treis - it is used a lot for barbecues for night boat trips and frankly is a bit of a mess! Not that good at clearing the litter really. The boat trips don´t give you time to explore the Island but it is very small and I can´t imagine there is much to see - it might be quiet away from the boats.
The view of the Islands is lovely - but I think the view is probably the best bit!

Rabbit Island is quite nice though - you can go there and sometimes, if you are very lucky, you can even see a rabbit!!

Peacetrain thank you for the info..
After all the problems i was having lately, I was thinking to run away to somewhere for a short period..
Turgutreis seems perfect ..(I will start looking at the travel agencies and lastminute.com to find a ticket for the coming week)
I will pm Lady in Red if she can find an half way decent hotel for me.

You have problems? Surely not?
Anyway, if you really need to forget all your problems I don´t think Turgutreis is so perfect (too near TC member/s ).
May I suggest some alternatives?
South Korea - where only the registered blind can be a masseuse (so your secret will be safe )
or
The traditional Great British holiday
or
the desert island experience

1. Excuuuuuuuuse me????!!!!!
2. On the news today it said that blind South Korean masseuses (not sure if that is the right plural!) are jumping off bridges in protest at the fact that this is the only job they can get!! (no-one has died yet - they have all been rescued )
