Ama means But

Well .. it is hard as there are clearly a lot of errors in the Turkish. Did you copy it from a handwritten letter?
Don´t misunderstand, but ........... (cýk yok olmazsýn sen) you also gave money to the man, a person has no debts ...... (kaðýdý air gundi)

I´m glad you said that! I was trying to translate this yesterday but only managed the bits you have done before I got completely stuck - and if you couldn´t get the rest what hope was there for me!

I puzzled and puzzled - wondering which Turkish letters could be missing, but still couldn´t make head or tail of it!

Thank you all so much - it was copied exactly as it was written. Turks are not renowned for their punctuation and spelling as we all know!!!!

That seems very harsh
Turks I know are very good at spelling and punctuation. Maybe the type of Turkish resort worker who meets girls on holiday and sends them SMS and asks for money is a bit more ignorant.....
I still can´t believe you fell for the "mother´s operation" trick.....!

Yes you´re right. The only Turks I know are resort boys with no education to speak of and therefore not too good at spelling and punctuation!!
I feel stupid enough about the ´mother´s operation´ trick without you reminding me - thanks
And yes - you have hit a raw nerve. At least I´ve learnt my lesson and will not be doing it again.
He did sound quite genuine at the time though .............
