Hey everyone, Let us look for our relatives together

This article is one year old:
On Saturday morning, those who went to Ãstiklal Street or Galata came face to face with ads of people who “are looking for their relatives” on the walls or columns. The project “I am looking for my relative”, the first of which was organized by Aris Nalcý in 2006 within the framework of the Galata Visibility Project, has been further developed this year, expanding over the streets of Paris, Karlsruhe, Berlin, Cologne and Beirut. All the 66 different types of ads, with a total of 2000 copies were stuck on the walls on the streets of Galata and Alfortville, Bastille Square, Cologne Cathedral, and Kreuzberg in Berlin. The project, aiming at revealing the fact that all the Armenians who spread over different countries and continents are looking for their lost relatives, has also included the Hadig Group (consisting of the volunteering reporters of Agos), the Nor Zartonk Platform and many other volunteers from Paris and Beirut. Beginning from the first issues of the newspaper, Agos newspaper has always supported the search for lost relatives. Many people are not aware of the fact that they have relatives from “different” ethnic communities in their extended families. The project is based on the idea that there might be a grandma, a grandpa or an uncle in Anatolia who might be a relative of yours but whose ethnic identity has not been discovered. In our country where social memory is weak and where many people prefer to hide, or even forget about some crucial facts, people who begin to search for their relatives after learning about them over a long period face many difficulties, the principle one being lack of information. Since all the people seeking their relatives had already lost other relatives who might provide them with the necessary information, they have to begin their search solely with the name of a village or family. At this point, what is vitally important is to provide a platform for them to voice their call. The main difference of the project of this year when compared to that of last year is the addition of the web site, which brings a new type of function to the search. The web site includes not only the details of the project but also pages where you can look through the other ads or place your own ad. The site, which is now only in Turkish, will soon be prepared in English, French, and German. It all started with a “dream”… Although it seemed a bit impossible, people began to search for their relatives with the limited amount of information they have … Some dreams have already turned into reality… Some others are waiting for the day to come true… For further information: www.akrabamiariyorum.com

Arabic is more like an adjective in English just like saying I`m Turkish, instead of saying I`m a Turk, you can say I`m Arabic instead of I`m an Arab.

well, it`s better to say I`m a Turk instead of I`m Turk, cause It`s a noun. but yea I think this needs a clarification from a native speaker.

As a ´native´ English speaker I agree with tamikidakika.
I´m a Turk is correct. (Not I´m Turk)
You can also say "I´m Turkish" and "I´m Arabian" or "I´m an Arab" (not I´m Arab).
You can say ´I´m psychic", so I think "I´m Arabic" is also acceptable English.

I must say that I am not entirely convinced with ´I am arabic´. You might be using it as a native speaker but I never heard of ´I am arabic´ but ´I am an arab´.
Dictionaries giving ´the inhabitants of Ireland and their descendants elsewhere´ for irish for example. And also turkish as ´Of or relating to Turkey or its peoples, languages, or cultures´ (some of them).
Maybe it is just easy and simpler to use in daily spoken English.

It´s so strange how many aspects of your own language you just don´t consider till someone points it out to you
I never really thought about it before, but yes we do not make a distinction between the language and the nationality often.
I for example would never ask someone ..Are you a Turk ?, i would say, Are you Turkish ?.
I am spanish, I am german , I am arabic etc etc
For some reason it sounds slightly rude to say..Are you an arab?, or are you a Turk ?...can´t explain why but it definitely is more polite to say Are you Turkish ?

I am an Arab
I am Arabian
I am an Arab
He is an Arab
He is Arabian
He speaks Arabic
I speak Arabic
I am Turkish
I am a Turk
He is a Turk
He is Turkish
I speak Turkish
He speaks Turkish
btw I have traced much of my family back to the late 18th/early 19th Centuary except for my Great Grandfather who was a Turkish Sailor and moved on leaving my Great Grandmother pregnant with my grandmother. He most probably did not know this of course, therefore he was an early 20th Centuary Dudu, very likely the first and most original.

you`re quite wrong. the first Turkish dudu was Baltali Mehmet Pasa which means Mehmet Pasa with an axe!
The story goes, Catherine surprised the Axe Man by visiting him in his tent one evening. Once she got rid of her headdress, Mehmet Pasha became aware of being in the presence of royalty, and was awestruck. She offered diamonds, and then whispered, "Along with the diamonds, I´m yours."

Just like to point out, as this is a bit misleading, that my Grand-mother was born in 1903. So if anyone is aware of a Turkish sailor who was carrying one of those new fangled inventions called a Telephone (looking something like this perhaps) he could well be my Great Great Grandfather!!!
