where "Bosphorus" name come from?

Janissary, do you know if the legend you posted is the only legend about Bosphorus? I´m asking because this seems like a very old legend.. I mean it reaches back to Zeus.. who is not even a character in the Turkish literature. It would be interesting to hear more about this..

it is the only legend about Bosphorus.....details in Jak Deleon book,btw gorgeous read

Why Zeus has to be a character in Turkish literature?Thrace had its pantheon of Gods and Bosphorus is a Thracian word.Istanbul was not exclusively Turkish)and Thrace was taken all over by Turks in 14th century.surprise?))))

btw,I always thought Polish educational system is the best oneWinkor...you were just teasing janissary?
