I am traveling to Fethiye next month, we have a short list of places to go see but I was wondering if any of you have been there and can tell us some other places that we can go see. Also, we are staying at the Sunshine Holiday resort. Anyone heard of it?

I would use some of the organized trips that you can find in any of the travel places in Fethiye. They are cheap and well worth it. Do leave a few days by the end of your trip to go back to the places you liked most.

Pamukkale - Long trip though but well worth it
Butterfly valley - near Oludeniz
The ghost village (Kayakoy)
12 Island boat trip - you get to see Cleopatras bath
Saklikent gorge

In fact here are some more - the usual touristy sort.
If you are adventurous you also have paragliding in Oludeniz (see my essay )

We want to go paragliding but we are unsure if we can afford it. We also want to take a ferry to Rhodes, trying to find a cheaper option for that. He wants to go to butterfly valley and there is a canyon he wants to see as well. We will definately take the 12 island tour since its only about 8 euros. I also want to see some of the ancient cities.
ive tried to find everything i could on our hotel, but the cheap price with a 4 star rating worries me. I hope it is because they are still new and trying to get more people. The manager, Ihsan, has been reall helpful so far! Im just not looking forward to our bus trip from Izmir to Fethiye, but we leave Fethiya a few days before i come back to NYC so i can see my boyfriends hometown and spend a day or 2 in Izmir.
im so excited! I am also hoping our hotel will have information on where we can go.

Yes it is - and you can do a trip to Pamukkale and Ephesus at the same time but this is an overnight trip and as Izmir is only about half an hour from Ephesus you won´t really need to do that!
The canyon your boyfriend wants to see is Saklikent Gorge - which was mentioned in an earlier post.
I am sure your hotel will have lots of brochures and details of local trips. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
Here are some lovely photos of, and some information on, the Fethiye area.

If I were you I´d go from Fethiye to Denizli(for Pamukkale) stay overnight in Pamukkale then go on to Izmir maybe via Selcuk (for Ephesus)
(Pamukkale is 217 Km from Fethiye and 183 Km from Izmir)

Unless it´s on your way to another place, I do not recommend visiting Pamukkale -- they are really not that impressive. I´d rather take a longer trip to Kapadokya.

How can you say that!!!!!!!!! Come back another year and do Kapadokya.
My journey to Pamukkale was 5 hours each way and well worth it.......... despite having hardly any sleep the night before.
Pamukkale, yes the travertines are not what they used to be and there are bus loads of tourists at every turn, but there is more to see than just the travertines. Wander about in the old roman ruins, see caper bushes growing wild, just don´t follow all the other tourist groups..... when I went I was the only person except a lady picking capers and a group of Turkish teenage girls, anywhere near the ruins.
In a nutshell I am so pleased I went..... in fact the scenary on the way is also beautiful.
Only word of warning on the organised trips - they often end up at some point with purchasing opportunities, gold, onyx etc etc
I forgot to mention Dalyan and the mud baths .......... great fun!

Haha, I thought that Pamukkale looked better in the pictures then in reality.. and it was a five minute thing to see them all!! The ruins were interesting, but no different then everywhere else... which is plenty.

It was good when we went there - but that was about 15 years´ ago - there was actually water on the travertines and you could ´bathe´ there as well as in the pool. Then they stopped it altogether because the hotels were taking all the water. Don´t know what the situation is now though. We thought Hierapolis ruins were interesting but like you say CW (and no doubt certain members will be shooting us down for this ) - seen one ruin you´ve seen ´em all!
