Turks hunting Wild Boar

I have heard there has been an increase in the wild boars population of Turkey, and they are getting to be problematic. Maybe that has something to do with what is going on.
They are problematic here in CA now. Wild boars cause a lot of problems. It is thought some of the recent agricultural contamination is due to crop contamination from their feces.
Invasive Species - Wild Boar
They can be very dangerous if they attack.

Yes, I recently saw a documentary where Turks were hunting boars in the mountains (North East) to eat them. The question was raised about being muslim and eating pork, but they did not see it as eating pork. I have posted a clip on somewhere on here but it was a BBC clip and only us in the UK can see it.

Even the Italians (who normally loved a treat of pork) I used to hunt with did not consider wild boar meat on par with pork. They used to carve out a very small (selected) portion of the boars we shot, to take home and eat. The rest of the boar would be left back in the wild, for wolves and jackals to feast upon...

How could I have been so foolish and to believe the documentary! Fancy Turkish men going out and hunting boar to eat.

Thank you Alpha, for confirming. These men did not consider wild boar to be pork. The meat, they said was more like beef.

What´s so unbelievable with turkish men eating wild boar? Same as to say turkish men don´t drink alcohol. Though my husband sees a wild boar as a pig and he is right, because it is, just wild.

So even though the wild boar is a species of pig and the ancestor of the domestic pig, if it tastes like beef it´s ok to eat it?? . Obviously a branch of the ´raký isn´t alcohol it´s ´medicine´ school of thought!

Do they also realize that geletin has pig extract in it...So they don´t eat gummies or lolly pops either. Yes, it must be a conspiracy....I heard wild boar smell like daisies...
