Hummm Love is great i agree with you, but it not low ambition to say and express to your love one that how much u love her and how important her for you and when you say "I can't live without you or You are my life I think that just one of the way to express your feeling. I beleive that there are so many things which is important in our life not just only the one you love...

Hope you find your answer here

It sounds very passionate! And typical turkish too. I see it as possessive and could not live like that as I need freedom. If someone told me they could not live without me I would run a mile! Someone did once and I finished with him.

It is great to be in love or to love someone - and I think there is a difference. When you first fall in love you are "in love" when after a few years you then "love someone". The difference is the passion you have in the early days which dies off with the years.

But love is also to let the other person have freedom - I dont mean freedom to go with other men or women, I mean freedom to do as they wish without being questioned.

Ambition to me has nothing to do with personal relationships but more to do with what you want out of life - education, position in your job, travel etc etc My ambition was never to be married for the rest of my life to one man, but to be successful with my education and my job. I also have ambition to travel all over the world.

You have to do what you feel is right. Romantic culture in Turkey is very different to romatic culture in England. People dont just have one lover, whom they then marry and stay with for the rest of their lives. They oftern have many lovers, before they marry and then marriage does not always last very long. Divorce in the UK is very high about 1 in 3 I think, but that is not necessarily right, expecially for children from a marriage.

So you must decide yourself whether you are right or wrong in your beliefs. Just be yourself

Man's love is of man's life a thing apart,
'Tis woman's whole existence.

(Lord Byron. Don Juan. st 178)

Translated into simple English it means "For men love is only a part of their lives for women it IS their life"

It is far more beautiful in the original, but equally true in each.

Sorry I have to disagree there! It is not for me. ove is just a part of my lift not my whole life

It is a general statement, It would not stand up in a court of law, but it is, which poetry strives to attain, a comment upon what the poet observes.
If you doubt the truth of the observation please read through the 'Translation messages'

Personally I believe that the female needs a more constant commitment, as the human animal is reliant on the care of its mother for a long time. Perhaps in women this need deteriates with age and enlightenment.

When it is stated in poetry it is indeed very romantic. What I was trying to say is, love is a very important part of my life, from my sons, my parents, my husband, but love is not the only thing in life - there is self fulfilment and achivement which is just as important.

I can live without Kadir. I will keep breathing, I might even smile some days. Yes I am able to live without him. But what is life worth if I cannot share it with him and feel a peaceful, passionate happiness?

Love is not everything. But everything is nothing without love.

And therefore I don't feel afraid to say I can't live without Kadir. This sentence just doesn't fit a discussion of love. It is about the definition of 'living'.

Sounds like he was just expressing his feelings to you. I wouldn't read into anything else. I don't believe it has anything to do with ambition, love for his country etc...Actually, I think it's romantic. Be grateful you have a boyfriend who expresses him self that way. Alot of men don't know how.

I'm sorry, but who are the 'he' and 'you' in your post?

Yusuf was asking whether other members think that 'i can;t live without you'-love is good or maybe a bit too much as there are other ambitions in life too.
