alameda, do you use canned or dried garbanzo beans for this?

Well, if I were more energetic, I would cook them myself, but I´m lazy and use canned ones instead.

BTW I use button mushrooms for this....any mushroom with a nice cap would work.  Small portobellos work great.

Remind me to tell you my cooking garbanzo bean story some time.............they need a LOT of water and time to cook. ...hint...they smell very bad when they burn...and make a LOT of smoke...

It looks lovely, but (to be honest) how is it different to any other mushroom soup?   What makes it "Turkish"?

The ingredients look pretty much standard to me...

It isn´t turkish really , I think a mushroom soup is pretty much standard , done the same way all over. But it came from a turkish book...

Perhaps there´s something ´magic´ about their mushrooms.  Big smile

That will teach me to post a recipe!  You people will argue over anything!  Where is tami to tell me that mushrooms are the food of the imperialists?  Rant

You should have invited me Insallah and I would cook a REAL Turkish mushroom soup with real Turkish musrooms with canned (and slapped) beans..
