Maybe i am too mean if 200 people gave 50 TL it would be 10.000 TL totally not bad eh?
Hehe! NO !!!!! We were far too generous, especially when no can see what you put into the bag I´d say it was a good days work, worth getting married for???

worth getting married? you spend at least 20.000 TL to be able to get married in Turkey. there are tooooooooooo many consuetudes that both families forces you to do :S

Either 50 TL or a " çeyrek altýn" would be enough if he is not a close frien.
For the sake of AE, you need to explain what a "frien" is..

I did want to ask Alex what ´consuetudes´ are. Not trying to pick him up on his English but I´m sure he must have meant something else.

Humblest apologies to Alex - I looked ´consuetude´ up in the English dictionary and apparently it means ´custom´. However, I never heard this word used before in my entire life! Just goes to show you learn something new every day!
